An image recording system is provided with an image data producing apparatus to produce and output halftone dot image data corresponding to a single sheet of output image, for each of plural colors successively; an image recording apparatus having a drum, a rotation driving mechanism, an optical unit to expose the light sensitive material on the drum to plural color light simultaneously in accordance with the halftone dot image data of plural (N&gE;3) colors, and a sub-scanning mechanism to move the optical unit in a direction parallel to a rotation axis of the drum; and an image data storing apparatus to store the halftone dot image data and to output the halftone dot image data to the image recording apparatus, the image data storing apparatus comprising plural memory devices each storing the halftone dot image data corresponding to a single sheet of the output image for one of plural (N or N&minus;1) colors.

Image-forming material

Disclosed is a color image-formable material for forming and transferring a color image. The color image-formable material has a support, a cushion layer provided on the support and color light-sensitive layer containing a light-sensitive composition and a coloring agent provided on the cushion layer. It gives a transferred image by forming a color image portion by imagewise exposure and developing treatment and then transferring the color image portion alone to an image-receiving material. The cushion layer has a hardness of 40 to 85 and a thickness of 15 .mu.m to 100 .mu.m. A process for preparation of the color image-formable material is also disclosed.

A method for preparing a mask for plate-making is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of contacting an ink layer receiving material with an ink layer transfer material having an ink layer on a substrate, applying heat in a mask pattern to the contacted material, and transferring the ink layer to the ink layer receiving material. The transmission density of the ink layer is not lower than 2 for light having a wavelength not longer than 500 nm and is not higher than 2 for at least a part of light having a wavelength longer than 500 nm.

A color proof formation method includes the steps of bringing a first color separated film original mounted upon an original mounting table into tight contact with a photosensitive material fixed upon a mounting table, and exposing the film original; separating the photosensitive material mounting table from the original mounting table; replacing or exchanging the first film original upon the original mounting table with a second color separated film original; and bringing the second film original into tight contact with the photosensitive material. The steps are repeatedly performed a predetermined number of times so as to form a color proof. There is also disclosed a color proof formation apparatus including a suction unit for forming a suction groove, for bringing the film original and the photosensitive material into tight engagement with each orther, between the film original mounting table and the photosensitive material mounting table while the film original mounting table and the photosensitive material mounting table are close to or in contact with each so that the film original and the photosensitive material are brought into surface contact with each other, and for evacuating the air interposed between the film original and the photosensitive material so that the film original and the photosensitive material are in fact brought into tight contact with each other.
