A room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition with excellent extrudability and self-extinguishing properties is made from a hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, aluminum hydroxide having an average particle size not exceeding 50 micrometers, colloidal calcium carbonate, platinum or a platinum compound, and a crosslinking silane or siloxane having at least three hydrolyzable groups.

Room temerature-curable organopolysiloxane composition

A room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition which does not suffer from surface fissuring even when subjected to external stress (e.g., tensile stress, flexural stress) during the course of its cure was prepared and has a composition of a hydroxyl-terminated polydiorganosiloxane, a hydrophobic silica with a silanol titer not exceeding 2.0 mL, a dry-method silica with a silanol titer of at least 5.0 mL, and an oxime group-containing silane or siloxane.

Room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition

An extrudable, self-extinguishing, room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane is obtained by combining a polydiorganosiloxane having hydrolyzable groups at the terminals, aluminum hydroxide microparticles having diameters not exceeding 50 micrometers, calcium carbonate microparticles having diameters not exceeding 20 micrometers, platinum or a platinum compound, and silane or siloxane containing at least three hydrolyzable groups.

Room temperature-curable compositions made from an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded alkoxy groups per molecule, an alkoxysilane having three or four alkoxy groups per molecule, a mercapto group-containing alkoxysilane, and a curing catalyst produce cured materials under sealed storage stability, reversion resistance.

The adhesion of paints to cured silicone rubber can be achieved using primer compositions comprising (1) a dialkoxysilane containing a substituted or unsubstituted amino group that is bonded to silicon by means of a divalent hydrocarbon radical, (2) a liquid, hydroxyl terminated polyorganosiloxane, and (3) an organic solvent.

Organosiloxane primer composition

Room temperature curing organopolysiloxane composition which are paintable after curing can be made by mixing hydroxyl-terminated organopolysiloxane, a paintability compound which contains at least one X--R.sup.1 --O-- silicon-bonded group and at least one aminoxy or amido group bonded to a silicon atom where X is ##STR1## and R.sup.1 is a divalent hydrocarbon group, and a crosslinking compound which is a silicon compound having at least two silicon-bonded aminoxy and amido groups. These compositions can cure to low modulus sealing materials useful in building construction and by being paintable allow the color to be determined after installation rather than needing to select a pre-pigmented composition.

Organopolysiloxane composition paintable after room temperature curing

Cured elastomers prepared by the reaction of a hydroxyl-terminated polyorganosiloxane with curing agents containing silicon-bonded aminoxy and/or amido groups can be painted when a dialkoxysilane of the formula X'R.sup.1 SiR.sup.2 (OR.sup.3).sub.2 is present in the curable composition. In the foregoing formula R.sup.1 is alkylene, haloalkylene or oxyalkylene, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are individually hydrocarbon, alkoxy-hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon radicals and X' is glycidoxy, mercapto, acryloxy, methacryloxy, NH.sub.2, --N(C.sub.2 H.sub.5).sub.2 or --N(H)CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NH.sub.2.

RTV Polyorganosiloxane compositions yielding paintable elastomers

The water resistance exhibited during the curing of certain moisture curable RTV polyorganosiloxane compositions containing calcium carbonate fillers is significantly increased by treating the calcium carbonate with a hydrophobicizing agent selected from cationic surfactants, nonionic surfactants having HLB values of 10 or less, and organosilanes.

Water resistant room temperature vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane

A room temperature vulcanizable silicone rubber composition is prepared by mixing hydroxyl or alkoxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, crosslinking agent containing at least two water-hydrolyzable radicals, namely alkoxy, ketoximo, alkenyloxy, aminoxy, amino, and amido, and a spindle-shaped calcium carbonate. Curing the composition results in a silicone rubber with improved thermal stability.

Paintable, cured polyorganosiloxane sealants are prepared at room temperature from room temperature curable compositions containing a hydroxyl-terminated polyorganosiloxane, an organosilicon compound containing at least two amido groups, aminoxy groups or combinations thereof, per molecule and a substituted alcohol where the substituent is acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, cyano, ##STR1## mercapto, or the combination of a carbon-to-carbon triple bond and an ether-type oxygen atom, where each Y and Z are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydrocarbyl and halohydrocarbyl.
