A side airbag device () protects the passenger () in the lateral space (). The airbag () has an attaching portion () attached to a side section () of a seat (), and is folded so as to be able to deploy from the side section () toward the lateral space (). The inflator () generates gas and thereby deploys the airbag () to a leading end portion () in the deployment direction (F). The airbag () has a bellows-like folded section in which a part () between the leading end portion () and the attaching portion () is folded in a bellows-like shape. The bellows-like folded section is disposed in front of the attaching portion () in the deployment direction (F), and is folded double toward the back of the deployment direction (F) so that a portion () close to the attaching portion () is positioned therein.

Side airbag device

In an airbag device to be mounted to a vehicle-body side wall, an airbag and a mounting bracket are temporarily, but securely, attached to each other, so that mounting of the airbag to the vehicle-body side wall can be easily performed. A bolt () is inserted through a plurality of mounting tabs () provided on an airbag () of an airbag device (), a mounting bracket () having inner and outer plates () and (), and an annular member () provided in the inner plate (). In this state, a toothed washer () is fitted and temporarily attached to the bolt (). The annular member () is fastened by screwing the bolt () into a nut () attached to the vehicle-body side wall () when the airbag () is mounted to a vehicle-body side wall ().

Airbag device

A curtain airbag device for a vehicle has a curtain airbag main bodythat is disposed along a longitudinal direction of a vehicle body while covered with an A pillar trimand roof trim, and folded in an A pillarand a roof side rail partof the vehicle body so as to be able to deploy downward within a cabin. The curtain airbag main bodyis provided with a twisted partthat is twisted such that an initial deployment force, generated upon inflation and deployment of the curtain airbag main bodylocated in a vicinity of the A pillar trim, is acted in a separation direction in which the A pillar trimis parted away from the A pillar part, to push open the A pillar trimtoward an inside of the cabin. At least an upper surface of the twisted partis regulated by a supporting bracketand disposed in the vehicle body.

Curtain airbag device for vehicle

An airbag is quickly inflated and deployed along an inner side wall of a vehicle while suppressing variations of the deployment direction of the airbag inflated and deployed from an upper part of the vehicle. An upper edge side of an airbag (), which deploys first, is bellows-folded to form a bellows portion (J), and a lower edge side continuous with the bellows portion (J) is roll-folded toward the vehicle's exterior side (G) to form a roll-folded portion (R). The roll-folded portion (R) is formed to have a larger width than the bellows portion (J) in the vehicle's width direction and the both sides thereof are folded back upward. The bellows portion (J) is folded in substantially half and is wrapped by the roll-folded portion (R) from below and is accommodated therein. When the airbag () deploys, first, the bellows portion (J), whose deployment is restricted by the roll-folded portion (R) on both sides, deploys toward the lower side of the vehicle, and the roll-folded portion (R) is pushed by the deployment force thereof toward the trim () and opens the trim (), through which the roll-folded portion (R) pops out and deploys in the vehicle.
