According to one embodiment, a radar device includes a radio module, a pulse compressor, a Doppler filter processor, a signal processor, an integration processor, an estimation module and a target detector. The radio module receives a plurality of received pulses corresponding to transmission pulses transmitted from a transmitter. The integration processor generates third data by integrating first data generated at the signal processor with second data generated based on first data obtained by a previous scan. The estimation module estimates a position at a time of a next scan based on the third data to generate second data. The target detector detects a target based on the third data.

A correlation processor for a receiver is capable of carrying out a correlation process with highly suppressed side lobes, improved resolution, and minimized S/N loss. The correlation processor is provided for a receiver that receives a signal having a specific time width and shape, for carrying out a correlation process on the received signal. The correlation processor has a filter coefficient unit to calculate a coefficient vector that zeroes sample values of all sample points except a peak center sample point of a main lobe of a correlation-processed waveform of the received signal and sample points on each side of the peak center and minimizes S/N loss of the sample value of the peak center sample point of the main lobe and a filter to carry out a correlation process on the received signal according to the coefficient vector calculated by the filter coefficient unit.

Pulse compression processor

In a transmission mode, one repetition transmission pulse generated by a transmitter is divided into a plurality of subpulses having different frequencies by a variable distributor. The subpulses are assigned to a plurality of elevation angle directions by phase shifters, and the assigned subpulses are transmitted from an antenna device. In a reception mode, the reflected signals of the subpulses transmitted in the range of the plurality of elevation or inclination angles are captured from this range by the antenna device. The captured signals are simultaneously received by a plurality of receivers and EL synthesis units. The number of reception channels is set equal to or larger than the number of transmission subpulses. Each reception channel is controlled on the basis of the reception elevation angle range calculated by an arithmetic processing unit such that the corresponding reception beam covers a wider elevation angle range for a short range, and the elevation angle range is narrowed with an increase in range. By this processing, both uniformity of a sensitivity in an entire coverage and an increase in sensitivity at a coverage end which tends to be short in sensitivity due to reception antenna pattern control can be realized.

There is provided a radar apparatus wherein a local signal having a coherent sine wave is modulated to generate a composite signal of two signals modulated by different modulation functions. The composite signal is transmitted as a transmission signal, and a reception signal associated with the transmitted signal is separated into two signal components modulated by the different modulation functions. A difference between the two signal components is found, thereby removing a reflection signal from a static clutter and extracting a signal component which has been frequency-deviated by a moving target. Thus, the moving target is displayed. The transmission frequency can be quickly changed without losing the function of detecting the moving target.
