Provided in a nonvolatile memory mounted in an IC card are a data block area, for storing data to be held; a reserve block area, for storing target data during a writing or reading process; and an address management area, for storing address data that correlate logical addresses and physical addresses associated with the data block areaand the reserve block area. In the writing process, data to be written is stored in the reserve block area, and for updating, address data that correspond to the reserve block areain the address management areaand address data that corresponds to the data block areadesignated by a command are rewritten.

IC card and data processing method therefor

In an IC card applicable to a plurality of data transfer methods and including a plurality of OSs, when power sufficient for the operation is supplied to the IC card, an initial OS selecting section activates one of the plural OSs as an initial OS on the basis of identification information stored in a nonvolatile memory. A transfer method determining section determines a data transfer method on the basis of data received from a reader/writer. An OS applicability determining section determines whether or not the determined data transfer method accords with a data transfer method corresponding to the currently employed OS. When the data transfer methods do not accord with each other, an OS switching section switches the currently employed OS to another OS.

IC card and OS activation method for the same

A semiconductor device includes a plurality of semiconductor integrated circuits formed on a semiconductor wafer; an testing pad for inputting and outputting a signal to and from an internal circuit of the semiconductor integrated circuit; a switch for switching a state of a connection between the semiconductor integrated circuit and the testing pad; and a wiring pattern formed on a parting line around the semiconductor integrated circuit and connected to an input terminal of the switch. When the semiconductor integrated circuits are separated, cutting off of the wiring pattern causes the switch to be turned off, so that the internal circuit is prevented from being affected by the influence of the cutting plane.
