A photocatalyst-coated body comprises a substrate and a photocatalyst layer provided on the substrate, the photocatalyst layer comprising photocatalyst particles of 1 part or more by mass and less than 20 parts by mass, inorganic oxide particles of 70 parts or more by mass and less than 99 parts by mass, and the dried substance of a hydrolyzable silicone of zero parts or more by mass and less than 10 parts by mass, provided that a total amount of the photocatalyst particles, the dried substance of the inorganic oxide particles and the hydrolyzable silicone is 100 parts by mass in terms of silica. The inorganic oxide particles have a number average particle diameter ranging from 10 nm or more to less than 40 nm calculated by measuring lengths of 100 particles randomly selected from particles located within a visible field magnified 200,000 times by a scanning electron microscope.

Photocatalyst-coated body and photocatalytic coating liquid therefor

A photocatalyst-coated body includes a substrate with an organic material as a surface thereof, a photocatalyst layer with interstices between the particles in the layer and an intermediate layer provided between the substrate and the photocatalyst layer. The photocatalyst layer includes photocatalyst particles in a range of 1 part&#x2266;x&#x3c;20 parts by mass, inorganic oxide particles in a range of 70 parts&#x2266;y&#x3c;99 parts by mass, and a dried substance of a hydrolyzable silicone in a range of zero parts&#x2266;z&#x3c;10 parts by mass, provided that a total amount of the photocatalyst particles, the inorganic oxide particles, and the dried substance of the hydrolyzable silicone is 100 parts by mass in terms of silica. A photocatalyst-coated body and a photocatalytic coating liquid which exert an excellent weather resistance, harmful gas decomposability, and other desired characteristics (such as transparency and film strength), while preventing erosion of the substrate are provided. The photocatalyst-coated body comprises a substrate and a photocatalytic layer provided on the substrate. The photocatalytic layer comprises photocatalytic particles and inorganic oxide particles, and has interstices between the particles in the layer.

Photocatalyst-coated body and photocatalytic coating liquid for the same

A method of and system for cleansing a toilet or urinal are proposed which require less maintenance work and are safer to users than conventional methods using acid substances, and which can prevent the formation of stain on the toilet or urinal effectively and suppress the generation of ammonia sufficiently, thus accomplishing a sufficient countermeasure to the stench. A urinal (A,) is provided with a continuous electrolytic cell (,) having at least a pair of electrodes, a passage formed between the electrodes, and an inlet and an outlet that lead to the passage. Tap water is electrolyzed by the continuous electrolytic cell (,), whereby free chlorine is produced. Then the water containing free chlorine produced is supplied to the urinal (A,), and the water containing free chlorine sterilizes the inside of the urinal, thus preventing urease, an enzyme carried by bacteria, from acting to decompose urea. By this method, the deposition of uric stone and the generation of the stain and stench are suppressed on the surface of the urinal and in the trap of the urinal.

Method of and system for cleansing a toilet or urinal

A composition is disclosed which can hydrophilify the surface of a member to impart an antifogging property to the surface of the member. The composition for hydrophilifying the surface of the member comprises at least (a) photocatalytic particles of a metallic oxide, (b) a precursor capable of forming a silicone resin film or a precursor capable of forming a silica film, and (c) a solvent, the total content of the photocatalytic particle and the solid matter of the precursor in the composition being 0.01 to 5% by weight. The hydrophilic property can be imparted simply by applying the composition onto a member and drying or heating the composition applied to the member. The resultant hydrophilic thin film is transparent and, hence, does not sacrifice the transparency and appearance of a member required to be transparent. Further, the surface of a member with the above composition applied thereto has such a property that water droplets adhered thereon can be immediately removed by vaporization and the surface is less likely to be soiled and, even when a contaminant is adhered thereon, can easily release the contaminant therefrom.
