To provide a technology for easily distributing an image in a requested photograph direction. Photograph images, which are photographed by turning a photographing apparatus and continuously photographing the periphery of the photographing apparatus, are stored in a storing region. Any direction in a photograph range of the photographing apparatus is specified and a distribution request of an image photographed in the specified direction is received. A reading start position on one image is determined from the continuous photograph images in accordance with the specified direction of the distribution request. A part of the photograph image is read out from the start position as a distribution image. The distribution images are read out from the positions moved correspondingly to the turns from the start position on the image following the photograph image. The distribution images are distributed to request destinations of the distribution requests.

Image distributing apparatus

A system and method to adaptively control a process of distributing video information over a network. Each client data terminal subscribing to video services has a performance level reporting unit which sends a performance level message Da indicating what resources and computing power the terminal has. Each terminal also has an error status monitor which sends an error status message De. A video coder produces coded data Dc by coding source video signals, based on the received performance level messages Da and error status messages De. The traffic of this coded data Dc is dynamically varied by a dynamic traffic controller, and a distribution unit transmits the resultant video stream Di over the network, using IP multicasting techniques. A video decoder in each client terminal adaptively decodes the received video stream Di.

System and method for distributing video information over network

An automatic monitoring apparatus for automatically detecting an object to be detected, such as a suspicious person, based on the picture obtained from an image pickup device. Moving object detecting unit detects information about a moving object in the picture, based on the picture signal input from the image pickup device. Characteristic quantity calculating unit calculates a characteristic quantity of the moving object based on the information detected by the moving object detecting unit. Characteristic quantity storing unit stores at least a characteristic quantity relating to a non-detection object that should not be detected. Determining unit compares the characteristic quantity of the moving object, calculated by the characteristic quantity calculating unit, with the characteristic quantity stored in the characteristic quantity storing unit, to determine whether or not the moving object is an object to be detected. Storage commanding unit causes the characteristic quantity of the moving object, calculated by the characteristic quantity calculating unit, to be selectively stored in the characteristic quantity storing unit.

A store-and-forward method for a fax mail apparatus for storing mail information being sent from a fax machine and transmitting the mail information to a designated destination in which the fax mail apparatus divides the received mail information by page, or predetermined size if the amount of data in a page exceeds that size, regards receipt of the first division unit as receipt of the entire mail information in the unit of one message, and, when receiving the first division unit, sequentially transmits the mail information by division unit from the fax mail apparatus to a destination fax machine.

Store-and-forward method for fax mail apparatus

Disclosed is a duplex system of transmission lines in a loop network applied, for example, to a local area network. To realize an autonomous recognition of transmission line faults by each communication node and to enable a rapid and automatic reconstruction of a network, each communication node comprises a loop back circuit for effecting a loop back operation in response to a predetermined state of signals received from two directions of the duplex loop lines, and a return indication circuit for adding, to a transmitted signal a return indication that a received signal was returned when the received signal could not be passed through the node.
