A metal porous body includes: a metal framework; and a separation wall formed in one piece with the metal framework, the separation wall being composed of the same material as a material of the metal framework. A plurality of cells each having a polyhedral shape exist inside the metal porous body. A side of the polyhedral shape is constituted of the metal framework. A location in which an opening of a cell of the plurality of cells is closed by the separation wall exists inside the metal porous body, the opening being defined by a side of a polyhedral shape of the cell.

A metal porous sheet includes a metal porous body having a skeleton with a three-dimensional network structure, and has a main surface in which a trench is formed. A depth of the trench is more than or equal to 10 percent of a thickness of the metal porous sheet. An area of the trench is more than or equal to 10 percent of an area of the main surface in a plan view.

A lithium battery includes a substrate, a positive electrode layer, a negative electrode layer, and a sulfide solid electrolyte layer disposed between the positive electrode layer and the negative electrode layer, the positive electrode layer, the negative electrode layer, and the sulfide solid electrolyte layer being provided on the substrate. In this lithium battery, the positive electrode layer is formed by a vapor-phase deposition method, and a buffer layer that suppresses nonuniformity of distribution of lithium ions near the interface between the positive electrode layer and the sulfide solid electrolyte layer is provided between the positive electrode layer and the sulfide solid electrolyte layer. As the buffer layer, a lithium-ion conductive oxide, in particular, LiLaTiO(x=0.1 to 0.5), LiLaZrO(&#x2212;5&#x2266;x&#x2266;3, preferably &#x2212;2&#x2266;x&#x2266;2), or LiNbOis preferably used.

Lithium battery

The battery of the invention has a positive-electrode layer, a negative-electrode layer, and an electrolytic layerthrough which ionic conduction is performed between the two electrode layers. In this battery, the positive-electrode layerand the negative-electrode layerare laminated with each other and an insulating layeris placed between the positive-electrode layerand the negative-electrode layer. The insulating layerhas an area smaller than that of one of the positive-electrode layerand the negative-electrode layerand larger than that of the other. There is no place where the positive-electrode layerand the negative-electrode layerface each other through only the electrolytic layer. Even when the electrolytic layerhas a pinhole, the presence of the insulating layerbetween the positive-electrode layerand the negative-electrode layercan suppress short-circuiting between the positive- and negative-electrode layers.

Battery

A thin film lithium battery is provided which can realize a high yield by solving various problems caused by a pin hole formed in a solid electrolyte layer. A thin film lithium battery according to the present invention is a thin film lithium battery in which a positive electrode layer, a negative electrode layer, a solid electrolyte layerprovided therebetween, and a collectorelectrically connected to at least one of the positive electrode layerand the negative electrode layerare laminated to each other. When this battery is viewed in plan along the lamination direction of the above individual layers, the positive electrode layerand the negative electrode layerare disposed at positions so as not to be overlapped with each other. By the structure as described above, even if a pin hole is formed in the solid electrolyte layer, short-circuiting between the two electrode layersand, which is caused by this pin hole, can be prevented.
