A managing system for image forming apparatuses includes a plurality of image forming apparatuses, a managing device connected to the plurality of the image forming apparatuses through a communication line for managing the plurality of the image forming apparatuses, a timer for measuring an elapsed time since a jam recovery operation in the plurality of the image forming apparatuses, an alarm for automatically outputting an alarm signal to the managing device through the communication line when the elapsed time measured by the timer reaches at an alarm transmitting level, and a level setter for setting a level so as to generate the alarm signal which is outputted from the alarm.

Managing system in image forming apparatus

An optical printer with a print head having numerous light emitting elements for reproducing medium densities of a multi-tone document image faithfully. When image data are inputted to individual serial shift registers, the entry of next image data is inhibited and, in response to a clock signal having a predetermined frequency, light emitting elements associated one-to-one with the shift registers are each turned on for a particular period of time associated with a logical value of an internal state stored in the associated shift register. The frequency of the clock signal is variable to adjust the turn-on time of the light emitting elements as desired.

Optical printer

A sheet feeder for an image forming apparatus having a sheet feed unit which incorporates a pair of feed rollers for feeding paper sheets one by one out of at least one sheet cassette toward an image transfer station by nipping them. The sheet feed unit is automatically moved by a guide to a position where the feed rollers align with the intermediate between opposite widthwise edges of the paper sheets.

A copying system comprises a first circuit for selecting a copying mode or a service program mode responsive to a manipulation of one or a plurality of keys, a second circuit for setting an operation mode to the service program mode when enabled by the first circuit, and a control device for automatically resetting one of a plurality of predetermined service program modes when the second circuit is disabled by the first circuit. Adjusting data for use in adjusting parts of the copying system in the service program mode are entered from the keys, and the predetermined service program modes are automatically reset when the operation mode is changed from the service program mode to the copying mode.

Copying system having copying and service program modes

A programmable copier capable of making copies from a plurality of originals from which one or more copies are to be made in accordance with copy information temporarily stored in a memory is provided. The copier is provided with a CPU for checking as to whether the total number of copies to be made for the next copy job when added to the total number of copies thus far stored exceeds the maximum number of copies producible from the remaining amount of toner or copy paper, and, if it has been found to be exceeded, that copy job is inhibited from being stored and a warning signal to that effect is indicated.

Programmable copier

At least two movable objects are respectively driven to move by servo motors or the like in response to independent drive start signals. When each of the objects reaches a predetermined position, a sync signal associated therewith is generated. If a time lag exists between the generation of the sync signals, one of the drive start signals supplied to the servo motors is delayed by a period of time which corresponds to the time lag.
