An object of the invention is to improve communication quality in a power storage management system. The above-mentioned problem may be solved by the following one solution. When a communication error where transmission, reception, or both transmission and reception of a signal is not allowed occurs between one or a plurality of a plurality of information acquisition devices that acquires states of a plurality of power storage cells and an information collection device that communicates with the plurality of information acquisition devices in a time-division manner, and collects information related to the states of the plurality of power storage cells acquired by the plurality of respective information acquisition devices, a process for resolving a communication error is executed by putting all the plurality of information acquisition devices in a state in which communication with the information collection device is allowed at all times. Here, the plurality of information acquisition devices is in a state in which communication with the information collection device is allowed in a first period in which the plurality of information acquisition devices communicates with the information collection device, and is in a state in which the state, in which communication with the information collection device is allowed, is canceled in a second period in which other information acquisition devices communicate with the information collection device in a relation of n to 1 (n is a positive natural number indicating the number of communication channels of the information collection device).

The present invention has an object to provide a battery control system which can immediately notify an abnormality to a battery system controller when a battery abnormality occurs. The battery control system according to the invention includes a first communication unit which transmits battery data using a first radio frequency and a second communication unit which transmits abnormality data using a second radio frequency. The first communication unit transmits the battery data at a predetermined period. The second communication unit transmits the abnormality data when the battery abnormality is detected.

A battery system includes a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel each including a switch and a battery connected to the switch in series and a battery state determining unit determining a state of the battery. The battery state determining unit includes a disconnection determining unit controlling disconnection of the switch and a switch controller controlling open and close of the switch in accordance with a result of determining the state. The disconnection determining unit calculates allowable stop and demanded stop periods of the battery packs on the basis of the past data, season data, and allowable currents of the batteries and transmits data to the switch controller when the demanded stop period is smaller than the allowable stop period, and the switch controller makes the switch in an open state.

A dielectrically isolated semiconductor device of high reliability is provided by realizing a fine and deep element isolating region which can prevent dislocation of an oxide film as an insulation layer by oxidation-induced stress. The dielectrically isolated semiconductor device includes an SOI substrate supporting an active element layer deeper than an expanded distance of a depletion layer subjected to the highest voltage applied to the device, and an element isolating region which encloses the active element layer. The element isolating region contains a deep trench which comes into contact with the insulation layer, and which is filled with n heavily doped layers on both side walls, second insulation films each adjacent to the n heavily doped layer and a polycrystalline semiconductor layer formed between the second insulation films.

The invention provides an optical switch that consumes a less power, excels in a high-speed response, and possesses a structure suitable for a miniaturization and multi-channel switching. The optical switch switches a plurality of input signals to a plurality of output positions, in which a laminated structure that has a nonlinear optical layer and a buffer layer laminated in the same number as that of input parts intersects an optical path between the input parts and output parts. By providing the laminated structure using the nonlinear optical thin films, the invention achieves a small matrix optical switch excellent in a high-speed response and suitable for switching a large-capacity of information.

Wavelength division multiplex optical switch

An optical device is capable of changing signal light to a plurality of paths. The device includes a film, a heating source attached to the film, and a heat radiator plate attached to the other portion of the film. The refractive index of the film varies according to heat excitation, and the film comprises crystal grains of an oxide and amorphous portions present between the crystal grains.

Optical switch, element therefor, and optical switching method

A non-linear optical material comprising crystal grains of an oxide having a corundum type crystal structure, and amorphous portions in the surroundings of the crystal grains, in a thin film, is disclosed. The non-linear optical thin film has such a property that its refractive index varies largely when energy is applied thereto. Since the material shows little loss of light transmitted therethrough, it is possible, by use of the material, to provide a non-linear optical device for efficiently changing over the emission path of a light signal or turning-ON/OFF the light signal.

An optical switch includes at least one light-receiving core for receiving an optical signal, a plurality of light-emitting cores which are used selectively for emitting the optical signal, and a plurality of waveguides connecting the light-receiving core and the plurality of light-emitting cores.
