In a sheet conveyance system in which a plurality of apparatuses each including a communication unit with a plurality of communication channels are connected, and a sheet is conveyed between the apparatuses, each of the plurality of communication channels can be switched between a transmission mode and a reception mode. When a plurality of transmission channels are set by channel assignment, communication can be executed by giving a priority to each transmission destination. If transmission data are accumulated in an apparatus, and they include data for a transmission destination with a higher priority over the current data transmission destination, the number of transmission channels is increased, and the priority is raised.

A control apparatus used in an image forming apparatus has a CPU board () and a relay board having I/Fs (-) and a CPU (). The I/Fs are connectable with driver boards (-), and have common standards. The CPU detects each connection state of the driver boards to the I/Fs, decides an ID for the relay board according to the connection state, and performs consistency control to secure consistency of control between the driver boards, based on the ID for the relay board. An RFID tag formed on an original includes a storage unit which stores data representing, e.g., the number of times of scan of the original and the generation from a parent original, and a transmitter/receiver which transmits and receives the data by radio. A read/write circuit receives data from an RFID tag of an original by radio. On the basis of the received data, read of the original is controlled. While the original is being read, the received data is edited in accordance with the control. The read/write circuit transmits and writes the edited data in the RFID tag.

A sheet processing apparatus which is capable of securing a sufficient sheet bundle processing time period even with a short sheet conveying path to thereby maintain required capability of processing sheets conveyed at constant intervals.
