A valve timing control apparatus includes a driving-side rotary body, a driven-side rotary body, a fluid pressure chamber partitioned into a retard angle chamber and an advance angle chamber by a partitioning portion provided in at least one of the driving-side rotary body and the driven-side rotary body, a fluid control mechanism for controlling feeding of working fluid from a working fluid pump for feeding the working fluid to the fluid pressure chamber and controlling also discharging of the working fluid from the fluid pressure chamber, a first lock mechanism capable of restraining a relative rotational phase to a first predetermined phase between a most retarded angle phase and a most advanced angle phase, and a second lock mechanism capable of restraining the relative rotational phase to a second predetermined phase different from the first predetermined phase.

A valve timing control device comprises a drive-side rotational member synchronously rotatable with a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine; a driven-side rotational member mounted coaxially with the drive-side rotational member and synchronously rotatable with a camshaft for opening and closing a valve of the internal combustion engine; a fluid pressure chamber defined by the drive-side rotational member and the driven-side rotational member; a partition provided in at least one of the drive-side rotational member and the driven-side rotational member for dividing the fluid pressure chamber into a retarded angle chamber and an advanced angle chamber; a fluid feeding/discharging mechanism for controlling feed/discharge of working fluid relative to the fluid pressure chamber; a locking mechanism for restricting a relative rotational phase of the driven-side rotational member relative to the drive-side rotational member to a predetermined phase between a most retarded angle phase and a most advanced angle phase; and an urging mechanism for constantly exerting an urging force to the drive-side rotational member and the driven-side rotational member to displace the relative rotational phase to the side of the most retarded angle phase.

A valve timing control device includes: a driving side rotational member; a driven side rotational member; a fluid pressure chamber; a partition portion; a lock member; a lock groove; and a lock release, wherein the lock release passage is in communication with the lock groove, and the rotational member formed with the accommodation portion is provided with an atmosphere open passage which is in communication with the lock groove when the relative rotational phase is at a specific phase.

Provided is a valve timing control apparatus configured to realize a locked state before an engine is stopped by controlling a restricting mechanism and a locking mechanism while the engine is operating. The apparatus includes a partitioning section provided in a driven-side rotary member for partitioning between an advanced angle chamber and a retarded angle chamber, a restricting member disposed in the driven-side rotary member and capable of projecting/retracting relative to a driving-side rotary member, a restricting recess portion formed in the driving-side rotary member and receiving the restricting member projected therein for restricting a relative rotational phase within a predetermined range, a locking member disposed in the driven-side rotary member and capable of projecting/retracting relative to the driving-side rotary member, a locking recess portion receiving the locking member projected therein for locking the relative rotational phase to a predetermined phase, and a communication passageway capable of feeding fluid releasing the restriction by the restricting member to the locking member and incapable of feeding fluid releasing the locking by the locking member to the restricting member. The restricting member switches over the communication passageway to a communicating state or to a non-communicating state.

A valve timing control device includes a driving side rotational member, a driven side rotational member, a retarded angle chamber, an advanced angle chamber, a first control valve, a supply passage supplying the fluid to the first control valve, a first pump pumping the fluid to a vapor liquid separating portion, a second pump pumping the fluid in the vapor liquid separating portion to the first control valve, a discharge passage discharging the fluid from the first control valve toward the operational fluid reservoir, and a second control valve provided at the discharge passage and operated to switch the discharge passage between a first discharge passage is discharging the fluid discharged from the first control valve to the operational fluid reservoir and a second discharge passage flowing the fluid to be drawn into the first pump.

A valve timing control device comprises a drive side rotation member for rotating with a crank shaft with synchronization, a driven side rotation member arranged coaxially with the drive side rotation member and slidable therewith, the driven side rotation member rotating with the camshaft, and a rotation phase position adjustment mechanism for adjusting a relative rotation phase between the drive side rotation member and the driven side rotation member by an operating oil. The drive side rotation member and the driven side rotation member form a vertical sliding surface relative to a rotation axis, and an oil reservoir is formed at the driven side rotation member. The oil reservoir is open to the sliding surface and is connected to a drain for the operating oil.
