A method of inhibiting corrosion of metal in contact with a corrosive mixture in an oil or gas field environment involving introducing a corrosion inhibitor composition into the corrosive mixture, the corrosion inhibitor composition including a nitrogen-containing compound having an alkyl amine group or an alkyl quaternary ammonium salt group, and at least one sulfur-containing compound selected from the group consisting of mercaptobenzothiazole, mercaptobenzoimidazole, a thioglycol compound, and a thiourea compound.

Oil and gas field corrosion inhibitor compositions

A corrosion inhibitor composition, containing (a) a cinnamaldehyde compound, (b) an alkoxylated fatty amine, and (c) an imidazoline compound, and optionally (d) a surfactant, and (e) a solvent. The present invention relates to a process for producing glycidol from glycerol carbonate as a raw material with a high yield. The invention provides a liquid detergent composition which is safe, has an excellent detergency and contains a hydrophobic organic solvent stable despite of a large water content. A process for producing a glyceryl ether which contains a markedly small amount of organohalogen compounds and therefore can be used even for cosmetics and body detergents. The process comprises reacting an alcohol with an &agr;-epihalohydrin in the presence of an acid catalyst, subjecting the reaction mixture to ring closure to convert it into the corresponding glycidyl ether and then hydrolyzing the glycidyl ether, wherein: (a) the hydrolysis is effected at 140 to 230&deg; C. in the presence of a salt formed from a strongly basic compound and a weakly acidic compound, or (b) the reaction mixture after the hydrolysis is heated at 100 to 230&deg; C. in the presence of a salt formed from a strongly basic compound and a weakly acidic compound.

The present invention provides a process for preparing an alcohol derivative, where the alcohol derivative is an ester, acetal, ketal, ether glycoside, or alkyl glycoside, by reacting an alcohol with a carbonyl compound, alcohol, olefin, epoxy compound or saccharide, where C vicinal alkylene oxides are excluded, in the presence of (A) an aluminum alkoxide and (B) sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid.

The present invention relates to an amine derivative represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 mean individually an alkyl or alkenyl group which may have --OH and has 1-24 carbon atoms, A denotes an alkylene or alkenylene group which may have at least one --OH, --COOH or --SO.sub.3 H and has 1-6 carbon atoms, y.sup.1 is --COOH, --SO.sub.3 H or --OSO.sub.3 H, y.sup.2 means --OH, --OSO.sub.3 H or --OCO--A--COOH, n stands for a number of 0 or 1, and p is an integer of 1-8, or a salt or quaternized product thereof, and a detergent composition containing such a compound. This compound is low in irritativeness to the skin and hair and excellent in foamability, and can give a pleasant feeling to the user's skin and the like.

Ether compounds, which are useful as solvents, cosmetics, detergents, lubricants, emulsifiers and so on, are produced by reacting (a) a hydroxy compound with a carbonyl compound of (b) a carbonyl compound under hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of a catalyst with ease and at a low cost. The reaction is carried out while removing out produced water by using a dehydrating agent during the reaction; by distilling off the water by azeotropic dehydration and the like; or by blowing gases such as hydrogen gas to flow through the reaction system.
