A lens film including a transparent substrate film and a concave or convex lens layer provided on a side of the substrate film. The lens layer contains a resin composition with conductive fine particles dispersed therein and has a surface resistivity of not more than 10 &OHgr;/&square;. Another embodiment is a lens film including a transparent substrate film, a conductive layer provided on a side of the substrate film, and a concave or convex lens layer provided on the conductive layer, the conductive layer having a surface resistivity of not more than 10 &OHgr;/&square;. The lens film can be part of a surface light source where the light-receiving side of the lens film is disposed on the light outlet side. The surface light source can be part of a liquid crystal display device.

The present invention relates to a hard coat film used for various types of displays, wherein cracking and peeling of the hard coat layer is prevented, hardness reduction of the hard coat film is suppressed and the pencil hardness of the hard coat film is in the range of 4H-8H. The hard coat film includes a buffer layer ( ) with a thickness of 3-50 &mgr;m, formed on at least one side of a plastic base film ( ), which has a buffer function against deformation of the hard coat layer in response to deformation of the plastic base film ( ), and a hard coat layer ( ) with a thickness of 3-15 &mgr;m additionally formed over the buffer layer. The hard coat film ( ) is designed so that the pencil hardness of the plastic base film ( ), the pencil hardness of the buffer layer and the pencil hardness of the hard coat layer increase in that order.

Hard coat film

An antistatic hard coat film for various displays is provided which can prevent electrostatic deposition of foreign materials and at the same time possesses excellent scratch resistance and hardness high enough not to cause a deterioration in transparency upon being rubbed. The antistatic hard coat film comprises: a transparent substrate film a transparent conductive layer having a surface resistivity of preferably not more than 10 &OHgr;/&square;, provided on the substrate film and a hard coat provided on the transparent conductive layer the hard coat preferably having such an anisotropic conductivity that the resistivity in the layer surface direction is higher than the resistivity in the layer thickness direction.

Antistatic hard coat film

A hardcoat film is provided which can improve surface hardness and, at the same time, can prevent the hardcoat film per se from being damaged by stress concentration and is less likely to be scratched. The hardcoat film comprises: a transparent substrate; and a multi-layer hardcoat provided on at least one side of the transparent substrate, the multi-layer hardcoat layer comprising two or more hardcoats, the modulus of elasticity &sgr;m of a hardcoat provided closest to the transparent substrate being higher than the modulus of elasticity &sgr;s of a hardcoat provided as a surface layer.

Hardcoat film and antireflection film

An antireflection film containing a transparent substrate film, a hard coat layer on the substrate film, and first and second refractive index layers on the hard coat layer. The hard coat layer has a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the transparent substrate film; the first refractive index layer has a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the hard coat layer; the second refractive index layer has a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the hard coat layer.

A antiglare layer having a fine uneven surface is formed directly or through other layer(s) on a transparent substrate film and a layer having a low refractive index, which is lower than the refractive index of the antiglare layer is formed thereon. The refractive index of the antiglare layer is higher than the refractive index of a layer in contact with said antiglare layer on its surface remote from the layer having a low refractive index. An SiO film may be used as the layer having a low refractive index. The SiO film per se has excellent gas barrier property and antifouling property as an optical functional membrane and is an optical functional material characterized by having excellent moistureproofness, scratch resistance, adhesion to a substrate, transparency, low refractive index, dye deterioration preventive property, and other properties.

Optical functional materials and process for producing the same

A layer 13 having a low refractive index as a surface layer is formed through other layer(s) on a transparent substrate film 11, and at least one of the other layer(s) is a hard coat layer 12 of 0.5 .mu.m or more in thickness, having a high refractive index, composed mainly of a resin. The hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index is in direct contact with a layer 13 having a low refractive index. The refractive index of the hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index is higher than the refractive index of a layer in contact with the hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index on its surface remote from the layer 13 having a low refractive index. For use, the antireflection film is laminated to a polarizing plate or a liquid crystal display device.

An antireflection film, containing ultrafine particles, formed of a resin composition having excellent dispersibility of ultrafine particles in a binder resin and capable of preventing whitening, a polarizing plate, and a liquid crystal display device are provided. At least one resin layer is provided on a transparent substrate film directly or through other layer(s), and at least one of the resin layer has a controlled refractive index and is formed of a resin composition containing ultrafine particles. The outermost layer has a lower refractive index than an underlying layer in direct contact therewith. The resin composition contains a carboxyl-containing (meth)acrylate as part or the whole of a binder resin component. A polyfunctional acrylate having in its molecule three or more acryloyl groups may be added to the binder resin component in order to further enhance the properties of the hard coating.

The present invention provides a transparent functional film comprising a transparent plastic substrate film and a hard coat layer provided thereon, wherein functional ultrafine particles are present in a highly localized form, thereby enabling the functional ultrafine particles to effectively exhibit their function and, at the same time, the hard coat layer to have a good adhesion to the functional ultrafine particle layer; and also an antireflection film and processes for producing the transparent functional film and the antireflection film. A functional ultrafine particle layer 2 is formed on a release film 1. Separately, a resin composition for a hard coat layer is coated on a transparent plastic substrate film 3. The coated release film is laminated by press bonding to the coated transparent plastic substrate film so that the functional ultrafine particle layer 2 faces the resin composition coating, thereby causing part of the functional ultrafine particles 5 to be embedded in the resin composition coating for a hard coat layer. The resultant laminate is cured, and the release film 1 is then peeled off. In the resultant transparent functional film, the functional ultrafine particle layer 2 is partly embedded in and fixed to the hard coat layer 4, and the functional ultrafine particles 5 are localized in the hard coat layer 4 on its surface side.

An antireflection film comprising a transparent substrate film, a hard coat layer formed on the transparent substrate film either directly or through other layer, and a low-refractive-index layer formed on the hard coat layer either directly or through other layer, wherein the low-refractive-index layer is a SiO.sub.2 gel layer formed by using a SiO.sub.2 sol prepared by hydrolyzing a silicon alkoxide represented by CH.sub.3 Si(OR).sub.3 wherein R is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms.

A thermal transfer image-receiving sheet having a dye-receiving layer, which is excellent in reaction rate of a release agent, coating strength of a release layer and releasability from a thermal transfer sheet. The thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprises a substrate sheet and a dye-receiving layer provided on at least one surface of the substrate sheet, wherein the dye-receiving layer contains a release agent mixture comprising an addition-polymerizable silicone and a hydrogen-modified silicone or wherein the dye-receiving layer has on its surface a release layer comprising an addition-polymerizable silicone and a hydrogen-modified silicone. The hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index is in direct contact with a layer 13 having a low refractive index. The refractive index of the hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index is higher than the refractive index of a layer in contact with the hard coat layer 12 having a high refractive index on its surface remote from the layer 13 having a low refractive index. For use, the antireflection film is laminated to a polarizing plate or a liquid crystal display device.
