An image reading apparatus including: a circulating transport path for transporting an original document to circulate; plural reading sections for reading a single image plane on a same single face of the original document at plural times at plural positions in the circulating transport path, and for generating plural image data sets for the single image plane; and an image processing section for processing the plural image data sets generated by the plural reading sections, and creating one image data set for the single image plane.

An image reading apparatus including: first reading sensor to read an image of an original document at a first position; a second reading sensor at second position downstream; a circulating transport path; a first switchback provided between the first and second positions; a second switchback provided between the second and first positions; a first gate at a branching point of the first switchback; a second gate at a branching point of the second switchback; a sheet exit; a third gate provided at a branching point of the sheet exit; and a controller, which controls such that: the original document is transported through two switchbacks, both face images are read by the two reading sensors; and in another mode, the original document is transported through one of the two switchback sections, and both face images are read by one of the two reading sensors.

An image reading apparatus including: a circulating transport path to transport original documents; a first reading section to read images at a first reading position on the original documents; and a second reading section to read images on the original documents at a second reading position, opposing to the first reading position, on the circulating transport path, wherein the second reading section has different reading characteristics from characteristics of the first reading section.

An image reading apparatus for reading images on original documents, including: a first reading section to read the images on the original documents; a second reading section to read the images on the original documents at a position downstream of a reading position of the first reading section, in a transporting direction of the original documents; and a controller; wherein, the controller controls in such a way that: the first reading section and the second reading section alternately read images on multiple original documents sequentially from document to document; and when an original document is transported to the reading position of the second reading section without an image on the original document being read by the first reading section, a transporting speed of the original document is higher than a transporting speed while the image on the original document being read.

A copying machine equipped with an automatic document feeding device has a document stacker on which a plurality of documents can be stacked, a feeding section in which a sheet of document is separated from plural documents stacked on the document stacker and is fed to an image reading section, a conveyance section in which the document fed to the image reading section is conveyed and is stopped at a predetermined image reading position and then the document, after being read, is conveyed, and a sheet-ejecting section which is located at the downstream side in the conveyance direction from the image feeding section and ejects the document fed out of the conveyance section to a delivery tray. A document trailing edge detector is provided on the document stacker, a pass of the trailing edge of the last document on the document stacker is detected, and detection signals therefrom are sent to a main body of the copying machine to control a sheet feeding of the sheet feeding section of the copying machine.

Copying machine having automatic document feeding device

A recording sheet finishing apparatus connected with an image forming apparatus, in which recording sheets delivered from the image forming apparatus are stapled and the stapled sheets are ejected. The apparatus includes a plurality of stackers each having at least one stapler. The apparatus further includes a control means in which the recording sheets delivered from the image forming apparatus are stapled alternately by the staplers for each set of recording sheets and after that, each of the stapled set of recording sheets are delivered from the stapler to a delivery sheet tray, where a conveyor belt which transports the stack is operated at two different speeds with an initial speed followed by a faster speed to prevent damage to the stack.

Recording sheet finishing apparatus

A sheet conveyer for conveying a sheet so that an image of a document is duplicated on both sides of the sheet by an image forming machine such as a photocopy machine. The sheet conveyer has; a first conveyance path for conveying the sheet to an image forming section of the image forming machine; a second conveyance path for conveying the sheet from the image forming section to a tray; the tray for holding the sheet; a third conveyance path for conveying the sheet from the tray to the image forming section; and, a pair of nip rollers, located at the vicinity of the tray, for holding the sheet conveyed through the second conveyance path, and forwarding the sheet into the third conveyance path; in which the sheet conveyance apparatus has a first mode that the sheet is forwarded into the third conveyance path by the nip rollers without being placed on the tray, and a second mode that the sheet is once placed on the tray and forwarded into the third conveyance path by the nip rollers.

Recording sheet conveyance device for use with an image forming apparatus

An apparatus which includes a feeding device for feeding a document onto a document platen on which the document is irradiated by a light source to obtain a copy image and a discharging device for discharging the irradiated document from the document platen. The apparatus includes a housing unit shaped in the form of a plate for covering the document platen; a hinge for pivotally mounting the housing unit on the document platen, and first, second and third sub-housings made to protrude upwards from the top surface of the housing unit. The first sub-housing is disposed on one side of the housing unit and incorporates the feeding device. The second sub-housing is disposed on the opposite side to the one side and incorporates the discharging device. The third sub-housing is disposed on a side between the one side and the opposite side and incorporates both the hinge and driving mechanism for both the feeding device and the discharging device.

Document feeder

A document conveyer for conveying a document to a predetermined position on platen glass of a copying machine, including; a document feeder for feeding the document from the outside of the document conveyer to a conveyance roller, located on the platen glass the conveyance roller, for conveying the document onto the platen glass by rotating in the forward direction, and also for subsequently bringing the trailing edge of the document into contact with an edge setting member, located adjacent to the platen glass, by rotating in the reverse direction so that the document is set at the predetermined position on the platen glass, an auxiliary conveyance roller, located on the platen glass, for conveying the document onto the platen glass by functioning with the conveyance roller when the document is longer than a predetermined size, and a roller retractor for retracting the auxiliary conveyance roller from the platen glass so that the auxiliary conveyance roller does not convey the document, in which the auxiliary conveyance roller is retracted from the platen glass by the roller retractor while the document is being brought into contract with the setting edge member by the conveyance roller.

Document conveyance apparatus with retractable auxiliary conveyance

A document feeding apparatus having a document feed unit adapted to feed documents, which are placed on a stacked document feed tray, sheet by sheet toward a document glass plate in an exposure unit. An auxiliary document feed tray is turnably housed in the document feed tray. The auxiliary document feed tray is turned so as to project over the stacked document feed tray when the documents are fed sheet by sheet by hand so that the front end portion of the auxiliary document feed tray narrows a document feed port of the document feed unit to render the stacked documents difficult to be inserted thereinto.

Document feeding apparatus

The invention provides a sheet conveyance apparatus for conveying an original document sheet onto a platen glass through which the sheet is irradiated by light. The sheet conveyance apparatus having a driving means capable of moving conveyor belt in both directions so that, by moving the conveyor belt to the first-moving direction, the sheet is fed onto through the first side and carried away from through the second side of the platen glass. A delivery tray is mounted above the platen glass so that the sheet is delivered through first turning passage from the second side of the platen glass to the delivery tray. Between the conveyor belt and the delivery tray is provided a second turning passage so that the sheet is returned through the second turning passage from the first turning passage to the second side of the platen glass.

Recirculating automatic document feeder

A document feeder installed on an electrophotographic copying machine, and this document feeder having transport rollers driven by a drive unit to carry a document sheet. The document feeder comprises a flexible sheet having holes, and being installed over a platen glass. The document feeder also comprises document transport rollers which come into contact with a document sheet on the platen glass through the holes in the flexible sheet in order to carry the document sheet on the platen glass.

A variable magnification copying machine for guiding light reflected from an original onto a photosensitive body through means of a plurality of mirrors and a lens system and for forming a latent image of the original upon the photosensitive body includes a variable magnification optical apparatus. The variable magnification optical apparatus selects one of at least two variable magnification modes based upon U variable and U fixed systems in each one of at least two regions obtained by dividing a variable magnification range and varies the magnification by a combination of the variable magnification modes. The variable magnification mode based upon the U variable system changes the optical path length from a surface of the original to the photosensitive body so as to vary the magnification while maintaining the focal length of the lens system constant. The variable magnification mode based upon the U fixed system changes the focal length of the lens system so as to vary the magnification while maintaining the optical path length constant.

An optical system of a reproducing apparatus having an exposure light source wherein the reflector of said exposure light source has a form of a curve of secondary degree and is adapted to be split into an upper half part and a lower half part at the non-reflecting surface of said reflector, said upper half part and lower half part being connected with a connecting member. The exposure device has a holding frame for holding an exposure optical system and guide members for movably guiding said holding frame. The guide members include an upper guide member disposed at the upper side of said holding frame and a lower guide member disposed at the lower side of said holding frame, said holding frame making a sliding contact with said lower guide member and contacting said upper frame member through an elastic member. On a lower position of said upper guide member is disposed an electrical collecting member.

Optical system for reproducing apparatus

In an electrophotographic copying apparatus a substantial saving of space is realized at the image-transfer-separation area by providing the transfer electrode with a shield having an open face opposite the photosensitive drum and an open end adjacent which a grounded separation roller is mounted. The separation roller acts as an end plate of the shield and receives a charge from the transfer electrode. The charged separation roller rotating at the same peripheral speed as the drum thereby attracts the transfer paper from the drum to the roller, thereby separating the paper from the drum.
