An image display device, includes a light and an array substrate having a plurality of sub-pixel areas and corresponding to a plurality of color filters. A liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of liquid crystal molecules, wherein the liquid crystal molecules corresponding to different color filters have different derangements, and a light transmittance per unit area in the peripheral region of the array substrate is equal to or less than a light transmittance per unit area in the display region of the array substrate.

An image display device includes a light source, an array substrate having a plurality of sub-pixel areas and corresponding to a plurality of color filters, wherein the array substrate includes: a display region and a peripheral region around the display region; and a liquid crystal layer comprising a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. A light transmittance per unit area in the peripheral region of the array substrate is equal to or less than a light transmittance per unit area in the display region of the array substrate, and a resistivity ratio of the color filter having a highest resistivity to the color filter having a lowest resistivity is less than 10 and greater than 0.

Disclosed is a manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display device that prevents luminance change in a sub-pixel where exposed portions overlap each other. A substrate is dividedly exposed in patterning a TFT array substrate of a liquid crystal display device. In an exposure process of using a resist, the substrate is divided into a plurality of divided regions. The portion subjected to a double exposure is set in a nonlinear manner within the sub-pixel. By providing such an arrangement, the portion subjected to double exposure is set so as not to overlap a storage capacitor or a signal line.

The write circuit writes, during a time period for writing said image into at least one pixel line, a black color into another pixel line. The another pixel line is separated from the at least one pixel line by a predetermined distance. The write circuit writes the black color into a plurality of pixel lines separated from the at least one gate line by the predetermined distance.

A liquid crystal display, and its manufacturing process, are provided in which antistatic measures are taken in the manufacturing process to prevent the occurrence of static failure before the formation during that process of the short ring. On a glass substrate 2, gate lines 46 are formed. The gate lines 46 are disconnected to form a discharge gap 50 with projections 52 and 54 on both sides of the gap 50. The discharge projections 52 and 54 are positioned substantially at the center of the edges of the disconnected portion of the gate lines 46. A gate insulation film 56 is formed on the gate lines 46 and in the discharge gap 50. Two through holes 58 are made in the gate insulation film 56 in the vicinity of the discharge projections 52 and 54 of each gate line 46. A metal wiring layer 48 is formed on the gate insulation film 56 so as to fill in the through holes 58 where the discharge gap is no longer necessary.

To prevent the damage of a display device by static electricity and to drive the display device with low voltage, on a transparent substrate of a liquid crystal display, two short circuit wires are provided, connected via a resistance. Each of the data lines is connected to the one short circuit wire via a first switching circuit, whereas each of the gate lines is connected to the other short circuit wire via a second switching circuit. A switching circuit is turned on when the potential difference between a data line and the one short circuit wire or the potential difference between a gate line and the second short circuit wire exceeds a predetermined value. When images are displayed on a liquid crystal display, the average voltage applied to each of data lines is applied to the first short circuit wire and the average voltage of voltages applied to each gate line is applied to the second short circuit wire to turn on the switching circuits.

The present invention relates to the improvement in the frame area of the liquid display panel of a liquid crystal display device, and its object is to provide a liquid crystal display device which is enhanced in its blocking ability and the ability of the blocking area to prevent electrostatic failure. A blocking layer 12 is formed in a frame area 1 on TFT array substrate 3. The edge portions of the blocking layer 12 have overlapping areas 14 overlapping the edge portions of each of data lines 10, which are metal layers, with predetermined overlaping margin d as viewed from a direction perpendicular to the surface of the TFT array substrate 3. An insulation layer 16 is formed on the blocking layer 12 and the TFT array substrate 3. On the insulation a semiconductor layer 18 is formed.
