An object is to reduce a cycle time for fabricating a low rolling resistance pneumatic tire and to provide the same pneumatic tire. As a means therefor, in building a tread portion by winding spirally a rubber strip material whose cross section is divided into a first region made of a conductive rubber and a second region made of a non-conductive rubber in a tire circumferential direction in a partially overlapping fashion by the use of an extruding machine which extrudes continuously the rubber strip material, an area ratio of the first region relative to the cross section of the rubber strip material is made to change in a tire width direction.

Method of fabricating pneumatic tire and pneumatic tire

When forming a rubber member which is made up of a combination of a plurality of rubber compounds by winding spirally a ribbon-shaped unvulcanized rubber strip material in an overlapping fashion, the number of times of winding is reduced so as to shorten a fabrication cycle time of the rubber member to thereby increase the productivity thereof. As a means therefore, a rubber strip material whose cross section is divided into two or more regions which are made up of different rubber compounds is wound spirally on to a drum in an overlapping fashion so as to build a green tire or a tire rubber member.

A carcass ply producing apparatus for producing a carcass ply constituting a carcass layer of a tire includes a supply head for supplying one or a plurality of ply cords, a head driving mechanism for reciprocating the supply head along a widthwise direction of the carcass ply, a sticking body having a sticking surface to which the ply cord supplied by the supply head is stuck, a sticking body driving mechanism for moving the sticking surface of the sticking body along a longitudinal direction of the carcass ply, and a moving amount controlling mechanism capable of controlling a moving amount of the sticking surface with respect to a moving amount of the supply head. When the ply cord is supplied along the widthwise direction of the carcass ply, a disposition angle of the ply cord with respect to the longitudinal direction can be changed.

A strip member is wound by a tire building machine having a building drum for taking up a strip member of predetermined length without discrete ends and a transfer conveyor for feeding the strip member to the building drum. The winding-start end of the strip member transferred from the transfer conveyor to the building drum and the winding-finish end of the strip member are detected by means of end sensors, measuring the angle through which the building drum has rotated from the output of a winding start signal to the output of a winding finish signal in response to output signals from the sensors by means of an angle detector. A lapping margin between the winding start end and the winding finish end of the strip member is calculated based on the rotational angle and diameter of the building drum by means of an operational means.

Method for winding strips on the tire building machine

A strip winding system for a tire building machine which comprises a vertically swingable frame disposed below and forwardly of a tire building drum, a slide frame adapted to move back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the swing frame, which slide frame carries a strip transport belt, a longitudinally stationary cutting bed, a traveling cutter and a longitudinally movable cutting bed as disposed in that order, the cutting beds having suction orifices opening on the juxtaposed upper surfaces thereof, and a clamp for fixing the conveyance run of the transport belt. Both of the cutting beds may be stationary in the longitudinal direction. The system permits winding of the strip under no tension, and since the strip B is fixed both forwardly and rearwardly of the cutting line, insures rectilinear cutting.

Strip winder for a tire building machine

A strip winding system for a tire building machine which comprises a vertically swingable frame disposed below and forwardly of a tire building drum, a slide frame adapted to move back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the swing frame, which slide frame carries a strip transport belt, a longitudinally stationary cutting bed, a traveling cutter and a longitudinally movable cutting bed as disposed in that order, the cutting beds having suction orifices opening on the juxtaposed upper surfaces thereof, and a clamp means for fixing the conveyance run of the transport belt. Both of the cutting beds may be stationary in the longitudinal direction. The system permits winding of the strip under no tension, and since the strip is fixed both forwardly and rearwardly of the cutting line, insures rectilinear cutting.

An apparatus for end correction of an automotive tire strip member comprises a conveyor belt for conveyance of a tire strip member consisting of rubberized steel cords to a tire building drum, which conveyor belt is narrower than the strip member, a supporting plate disposed under the conveyor belt and adapted to support the belt, a guide plate extending in parallel with the lengthwise axis of the conveyor belt and disposed above the supporting plate and on one side thereof in such a manner that it is driven to advance and retreat with respect to the conveyor belt, and a magnet disposed below the supporting plate and toward one side thereof in such a manner that it is driven to advance and retreat with respect to the conveyor belt.
