Conjugated diene polymer comprising at least a conjugated diene monomer unit, the conjugated diene polymer has a number-average molecular weight (Mn) in terms of polystyrene of 1,000 to 1,000,000, a ratio (Mw/Mn) of a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) to the number-average molecular weight (Mn) of lower than 2.0 and the polymer bears a halogen atom at a terminal of the polymer chain. Method for producing the conjugated diene polymer comprises subjecting a monomer containing at least a conjugated diene to living radical polymerization using a polymerization initiator comprising a halogenocyclopentadienyl triorganophosphine &#x3b7;-olefin ruthenium complex represented by formula (6) (and an organic halide. 

Conjugated diene polymer and method for producing same

A method for easily and efficiently removing ruthenium complexes, which are generally difficult to remove, from a polymer, as well as a method for purifying a polymer that uses such a removal method are provided. A method for removing a metal, wherein a compound is added that is capable of coordination via a substitution of a ligand of a ruthenium complex, thereby precipitating another ruthenium complex, as well as a method for purifying a polymer that uses such a method.

Process for preparing star compounds

A process for preparing reactive polymers and polymers prepared by the foregoing process are disclosed. This process comprises polymerizing a monomer comprising at least one isopropenylphenyl glycidyl ether represented by formula (1): ##STR1## wherein all the symbols are defined in the appended claims, or in combination with at least one other unsaturated monomer, by the use of a catalyst selected from halogens and hydrogen iodide. The reactive polymer prepared by the above process is represented by the general formula (2): ##STR2## wherein all the symbols are defined in the appended claims, and has a number average molecular weight of 500 to 50,000.
