The invention discloses a varnish coating device that utilizes an ordinary conventional digital stencil printing apparatus, such that anyone can easily apply a uniform film of a viscous coating onto a predetermined area of, for instance, covers and surfaces of printed products. The invention functions as a varnish coating device, in place of a drum unit, when a varnish coating unit is mounted on a mounting section of a printing apparatus main body. The varnish coating unit has: a coating roller that coats the surface of printed paper with a transparent varnish liquid and feeds out the paper; a supply device having a doctor roller that forms a liquid pool on the coating roller and that supplies varnish liquid to form a coating in a predetermined thickness over a predetermined area of the surface of the coating roller; a cradle that detachably supports a varnish container; and a pumping device.

Coating device and coating unit in a stencil printing apparatus

A stencil printing apparatus in which the generation of discharge sheet peeling problems and defects such as creasing and tear of the stencil base sheet can be prevented while printing on a coated sheet. When a printing sheet set in a sheet-feed device is indicated by input via a sheet-type input device as a coated sheet, or when a printing sheet set in a sheet-feed device is automatically detected by a sheet-type detection device as a coated sheet, a control device judges on the basis of a detected signal from the base-sheet type detection device whether or not the stencil base sheet type set in the platemaking apparatus is for coated sheet printing, and permits platemaking start if the stencil base sheet is for coated sheet printing and issues a warning without permitting platemaking start if the stencil base sheet is for non-coated sheet printing.

Stencil printing apparatus

A printing device comprising a stencil printing device which is excellent in operativity, in which a print drum with UV ink and non-UV ink can be used in a single stencil printing device. The printing device has a stencil printing control device and UV irradiation control device in which a drum unit ink type identifying sensor, which detects whether the print drum attached to the stencil printing device main body is a print drum unit for UV ink or a drum unit for non-UV ink, is used to operate at least a UV lamp, of the UV lamp and a UV auxiliary lamp, and to irradiate UV light when attachment of the drum unit for UV ink is detected, or to stop the operation of the UV lamp and UV auxiliary lamp when attachment of the print drum unit for non-UV ink is detected.

In an ultraviolet ray irradiation apparatus capable of forestalling printed material jams between a paper discharge unit of a printing apparatus and a reception unit of the ultraviolet ray irradiation apparatus, a signal line for exchanging electric signals with the printing apparatus is provided, and control is performed such that rotational driving of a paper conveyance belt of the ultraviolet ray irradiation apparatus is begun upon reception of a printing drum rotation start signal or a paper feeding unit paper conveyance start signal, and the rotational driving of the belt is halted after a predetermined amount of time has elapsed following reception of a printing completion signal.

Ultraviolet ray irradiation apparatus for fixing printed material

An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a stencil printer section and a non-stencil printer section and can form a stencil image and a non-stencil image on a single sheet. A first and a second adjusting section respectively adjusts the position of the stencil image and that of the non-stencil image relative to the sheet in the direction of sheet conveyance and the widthwise direction of the sheet perpendicular to the direction of sheet conveyance. A first shift display section displays an amount of shift of the position adjusted by the first adjusting section. A first moving mechanism shifts the position of the stencil image in accordance with the operation of the first adjusting section. A second shift display section displays an amount of shift of the position adjusted by the second adjusting section. A second moving mechanism shifts the position of the non-stencil image in accordance with the operation of the second adjusting section.

Image forming apparatus

A stencil printer operable in a duplex print mode of the present invention prints an image on one side of a sheet and then prints another image on the other side of the same sheet. The printer includes at least one print drum and at least one press roller facing the print drum for pressing the sheet against the print drum. When the press roller is used to press the other side of the sheet against the print drum, the press roller is implemented as an elastic body provided with a fluorine compound layer on the surface thereof.

Printer operable in duplex print mode

A master roll includes a cylindrical core, a long-formed stencil wound around the core, and a ring-like identity member inserted in at least one side of inner periphery of the core. The identity member has a feature according to a variety of the stencil. The feature of the identity member is identified by size of the identity member, inserted position of the identity member or the like, so that many varieties of the master roll can be easily manufactured. A master roll holding apparatus can hold the master roll.

A stencil printer includes a multistage paper feeding device capable of selectively feeding different kinds of papers and an ink drum shiftable in a direction perpendicular to a direction of paper conveyance, i.e., in the widthwise direction of a paper. A paper is conveyed along a path coincident with a center line connecting the coincident centers of paper stocking portions included in the paper feeding device and the center of a paper discharge tray, so that the paper can be accurately conveyed without any skew. Further, side fences provided on the paper discharge tray are interlocked to each other and movable in the widthwise direction of a paper symmetrically with respect to the center line of the transport path, neatly laying the paper on the tray between the side fences. In addition, the ink drum shiftable in the above direction allows an image position to be adjusted without varying the paper transport path.

Stencil printer

A stencil printer includes an ink drum having a hollow cylindrical porous support and a pair of flanges supporting opposite ends of the support. Annular elastic members are respectively affixed between the inner periphery of the porous support and the outer circumferences of the flanges. When the ink drum is pressed against a press roller, the elastic members deform and cause an ink roller disposed in the ink drum to be displaced. As a result, the ink roller contacts the inner periphery of the porous support brought into contact with and positioned by the press roller. The ink roller and the inner periphery of the ink drum can therefore contact each other under uniform pressure without the rigidity of the drum being reduced and without any shaking.

A printer for printing an image on a paper paid out by a pick-up roller and separated from the other papers by a separating device includes a kind-of-paper setting device for allowing the operator of the printer to select and input the kind of papers to be used. A controller automatically selects, among transport conditions stored beforehand in correspondence to the kinds of papers, optimal transport conditions matching with the kind of papers input by the operator in response to a signal received from the kind-of-paper setting device. The operator should only select and input the kind of papers while watching an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) provided on an operation panel. The printer obviates troubles relating to the transport of papers.

Printer

A paper feeder for feeding papers to an image forming apparatus and a paper tray elevation device therefore are disclosed. A first tray is movable up and down with a plurality of papers stacked thereon. A paper feed member feeds the papers from the first tray in a preselected direction of paper feed. A second tray is positioned beside the first tray in substantially the horizontal direction and movable up and down with a plurality of papers stacked thereon. A shifting device shifts the entire paper stack from the second tray to the first tray. A horizontal elevating mechanism elevates the first tray while maintaining it in substantially the horizontal position. An interlocking mechanism at least elevates, when papers of greater in size than the papers to be stacked on the first or second tray are stacked over the first and second trays in a single stack, the second tray in interlocked relation to the elevation of the first tray while maintaining the second tray in substantially the horizontal position. The papers of greater size are capable of being stacked over the first and second trays and fed by the paper feed member.

Paper feeder and paper tray elevation device therefor

A pair of paper delivery side fences is provided within a paper delivery unit so as to approach each other and move away from each other. A drive unit drives the pair of paper delivery side fences so as to change an opposite interval defined therebetween. At this time, the size of a sheet of transfer paper discharged to the paper delivery unit is recognized and the interval defined between the pair of paper delivery side fences is set to an interval corresponding to the size of the transfer paper. Thus, the interval defined between the opposed paper delivery side fences can be automatically set according to the size of the transfer paper delivered to the paper delivery unit and hence workability can be improved.

A stencil printer capable of conveying a paper by clamping the leading edge portion of the paper and printing an image on the paper is disclosed. Even when an envelope or similar relatively thick paper is used, the printer protects a master wrapped around an ink drum from ripping which would bring about various troubles including the contamination of printings due to ink.

An image producing apparatus including a control panel. When a school mode is selected, numeric or alphanumeric keys are pressed on a keypad so as to select one or a plurality of classes or grades. Numerical data concerning the number of students per class and grade are extracted, and are registered as the number of prints to be produced and sorted.

In an image forming apparatus with a sorter, prints which carry original images printed are delivered to bins of the sorter in two sorting steps. In a first sorting step, the prints are delivered to the bins in the grouped state. They are then collected and arranged in proper sequence in a second step using the image forming apparatus. Prior to the second step, the prints are relocated to a sheet tray from the bins. Thereafter, the prints are conveyed by the printing operation of the image forming apparatus, and are delivered to the bins of the sorter. At the end of the second step, the prints on the bins are collected and arranged in proper sequence in accordance with an original document.
