To provide a reliable optical pickup device, a pickup case and an optical component including a lens are fixed by laser welding to increase the welding strength and reduce the positional displacement due to environmental changes. In a laser welded portion between a pickup case and an optical component including a lens, the optical component is provided with a joint portion having a convex protrusion at a portion to be joined to the pickup case. Laser beam irradiation is performed extending longer than the protrusion to form a thick welded portion at an end of the protrusion, in order to increase welding strength between the optical component and the pickup case.

Optical pickup device and laser welding structure of optical components

In laser welding an optical part to a pickup case of an optical pickup device, outgas deposition on a lens surface can be inhibited, and positional shifting of the optical part can be reduced. The optical part has a lens surface facing in an optical axis direction and a protruding part formed, to be joined to the pickup case, at an end portion thereof in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis. A joint surface between the protruding part and the pickup case extends in a direction parallel to the optical axis, and the joint surface is fixed by a weld portion formed by laser irradiation. The joint surface is parallel to a bottom surface of the pickup case, and the height from the bottom surface is approximately equal to the height of the center of the lens surface.

The present invention provides an optical pickup device employing a disc protector that includes a plurality of first protrusions and at least one second protrusion disposed on the lens holder, wherein the first protrusions are formed by applying a first adhesive to a plurality of areas of a top surface of the lens holder, wherein the first protrusions are arranged at different locations in the tracking direction such that the objective lens is sandwiched between the first protrusions, wherein the at least one second protrusion protrudes is formed by applying a second adhesive to at least one area of the top surface of the lens holder, and wherein tips of the first protrusions are closer to the optical disc than a tip of the at least one second protrusion.

Optical pickup device and optical disc drive apparatus

The present invention provides an optical head for realizing the stable operation by controlling the temperature of the semiconductor laser to a low level by reducing the heat transfer rate from a laser driver IC to a housing in the vicinity of a semiconductor laser, and an optical disc drive using the same. It provides an optical head having a semiconductor laser and a photo detector arranged on one side with respect to a straight line through the center of an object lens of an object lens actuator and in parallel to the axis contacted with bearings, and a laser driver IC arranged on the other side with respect to the straight line. Thereby, the distance from the laser driver IC to the semiconductor laser can sufficiently be ensured so that the heat transfer rate from the laser driver IC to the housing can be reduced.

In order to improve reliability of an optical disk drive apparatus at low cost, a flexible substrate for making connection between an optical pick-up device incorporated in the optical disk drive apparatus and a drive side is divided into a first flexible substrate fixed to the optical pick-up body (for example, upper surface), and a second flexible substrate connected to the first flexible substrate and extending to the drive, wiring conductors formed on a connection end portion of the first flexible substrate and wiring conductors formed on a connection end portion of the second flexible substrate are superposed at a region adjacent an end of the case of the optical pick-up device body, and connected to each other by joining material, and a connection section between the wiring conductors is held down by a cover for protecting the optical pick-up device body.

Optical disk drive apparatus having a flexible substrate and wiring conductors

In a disc driving apparatus, wherein a laser diode and a laser driver circuit board are mounted on a pickup housing in thermal contact therewith and are disposed adjacent to each other, a heat separation member is provided between the laser diode and the laser driver circuit board for effecting thermal separation therebetween, thereby reducing the thermal interference between the heat-generating elements that are adjacent to each other in the optical pickup. This makes it possible to protect the heat-generating elements from being deteriorated, leading to a reduction in the lifetime thereof, as well as, to improve the reliability thereof.

Disc driving apparatus

To provide an objective lens driving device that drives an objective lens for converging light on a recording surface of an optical disk, not only in a focusing and a tracking directions but also in an inclining direction of an optical axis of the objective lens, four support members are fixed to outer edge portions of a lens holder, and positions where the other support members are fixed to at least one of the lens holder and a fixing section are located inside the four support members fixed to the outer edge portions of the lens holder.

A disk loading and unloading system (5) including a disk holding section (10, 11, 15, 16, 23) mounted for pivotal movement with respect to a main body of the system. When the disk holding section is pivotally moved outwardly away from the main body, the disk holding section moves to an upper position in which at least a portion of a disk (6) supported in the disk holding section clears the disk holding section and is exposed to view. Thus the disk can be removed from the disk holding section by holding its side edge by hand.
