The present invention relates to a motor driven type bell striking device to be employed in electric bells. The device incorporates a cam coupled with the rotating drive shaft of an electric motor, the cam translating the rotary motion of the motor to an oscillating action which serves to impel a piston, the piston then impelling a striking member which is coupled with the base or frame of the bell by a spring. In one preferred embodiment, the previously mentioned spring is a coil spring which wraps around the piston. In a second preferred embodiment, a leaf spring is employed. In both embodiments, the energy of the moving piston is translated into inertia in the striking member. Because the striking member is relatively free floating in the direction in which it moves, a sharp, clear ring sound is made possible with each impact of the striking member.

An electrically-energized horn is provided which is particularly suited for use in fire alarm and burglar alarm systems, and which includes a built-in solid state electronic drive circuit including a timer network for de-energizing the horn a predetermined time after it has been activated.

In a motor driven type gong striking mechanism, the rotation of the main shaft of an electric motor is converted through a crank mechanism into the oscillation of a piston plate, a gong striking hammer is coupled through a spring to the piston plate so that the hammer is oscillated, and a gong is disposed in the range of oscillation of the hammer. Thus, as a result of the rotation of the motor, the hammer is oscillated to strike the gong provided in the stroke of the hammer.

An alarm buzzer comprising an electromagnet, a yoke on which said electromagnet is mounted while maintaining insulation from the housing, an armature which is held with a plate spring on said yoke and is attracted by said electromagnet, a vibratory plate which contacts said armature, and a housing which incorporates the above components, wherein the bobbin of said electromagnet is made of an insulating material and consists of a hollow cylinder which receives an iron core in it and is wrapped with coil on its outer periphery, first flange provided on one end of said hollow cylinder, second flange provided on the other end of the hollow cylinder and at least one hollow projection provided on said second flange in the direction parting from said first flange, said yoke is provided with at least one hole into which said hollow projection of the bobbin is inserted, and the bobbin and the yoke are fixed to the housing of the alarm buzzer by a fixture which is inserted into the hollow projection of the bobbin inserted into said hole of the yoke.
