The present invention is a side airbag device stowed in a side support part of a vehicle seat, which includes: an airbag capable of expanding and deploying toward a front side from the side support part; an inflator that supplies expansion gas to the airbag; and a bracket that retains the airbag in a compressed state. The inflator is secured to an inner side (occupant side) of a side frame of the vehicle seat. Furthermore, the bracket has a rear region that covers a rear side of the airbag in a compressed state and an inner region that extends continuously forward from the rear region between an inner side of the airbag and a seat pad.

Side airbag device

The airbag device includes a first airbag cushion part and a second airbag cushion part installed on each side of a seat of a vehicle, a first active vent provided in the first airbag cushion part and a second active vent provided in the second airbag cushion part, and a controller that controls the first active vent or the second active vent to open and the other to close when the first airbag cushion part and the second airbag cushion part are expanded and deployed.

Airbag device

A vehicle seat equipped with a side airbag device includes: an inflator disposed on an outer side in a vehicle width direction relative to a side frame; an inner chamber housed inside the side part, and is configured to inflate and deploy toward a part of an occupant on the outer side in the vehicle width direction upon receiving supply of a gas from the inflator; an outer chamber housed inside the side part, and is configured to inflate and deploy toward the outer side in the vehicle width direction and a vehicle front side relative to the inner chamber upon receiving supply of the gas; and a diffuser housed inside the side part and configured to supply the gas into the inner chamber from a first supply port formed in a peripheral wall of the diffuser when the inflator is activated.

Vehicle seat equipped with side airbag device, and side airbag device

A curtain airbag device with which the position of a tether that pulls an end chamber during inflation and deployment thereof can be stabilized, thereby stabilizing the deployment behavior of the end chamber. A curtain airbag deviceis housed in a side face upper portion of a vehicle cabin and inflated and deployed along the side face, and includes a main chamberthat is inflated and deployed using gas from an inflator, an end chamberthat is disposed on a front endof the main chamber and inflated and deployed by gas received from the main chamber, a tabattached to an upper portion of the main chamber, a bracketfixed to the side face upper portion of the vehicle cabin, the tab being passed through the bracket, and a tetherattached so as to extend from a front endof an upper portion of the end chamber to the bracket, wherein a length La of the tether is shorter than a distance Lb from the front end of the upper portion of the end chamber to the bracket in a case where the main chamber and the end chamber are inflated and deployed without the tether.

Curtain airbag device

A side airbag device stored in a side support of a vehicle seat includes an airbag module having an airbag with first and second chambers and an inflator and a webbing partially covering the airbag module. The first chamber is deployed toward a front side of the side support and the second chamber accommodates the inflator therein and is deployed at an inner side with respect to the first chamber. The webbing extends from a rear side of the airbag module along an inner side surface of the airbag module, passes through a pad of the side support along a first path so as to reach an outside of the side support, and further extend along an outer surface of the side support and reach proximately a front edge of the side support when viewed in horizontal cross section of the airbag module from above.

A side airbag apparatus which allows a reduced amount of base fabric and, enables gas to flow efficiently inside the cushion. An inflator () supplies gas, a cushion () in which base fabrics are formed into a bag shape and inflates and deploys to protect an occupant () during a vehicle emergency, a base fabric joint portion () which is provided to join main panelsandof the cushion () in a linear manner and partitions the cushion () into a rear chamber (), a front chamber (), and an opening () provided midway along the base fabric joint portion (). The base fabric joint portion () includes vent forming portionsandarranged in two rows which extend from both ends of the opening () towards the front chamber () or rear chamber () and form a projecting vent (). The projecting vent () permits flow of gas between the rear chamber () and the front chamber ().

Air bag device

A curtain airbag device that allows easy recognition and correction of twisting of an airbag during attaching. The curtain airbag device can be stored in a compact manner during transportation. The curtain airbag device including an airbag that is disposed along a roof side rail of a vehicle interior, and that can deploy so as to cover a window portion on a side face of the vehicle interior, the curtain airbag device further including a cover that covers the airbag, at least, in a part of the folded or rolled airbag in the longitudinal direction. The cover is formed of a pliable fabric material of polymer fibers, and maintains the shape of the rolled-up airbag through mutual fusion of at least a part of the polymer fibers. A high stiffness portion harder than other portions and formed during the fusion of the cover is provided in the cover extending in the longitudinal direction of the cover.

Curtain airbag

A side airbag device including a cushion (), an inflator (), and a structure such as a rotating shaft () built in a seat (). The inflator () has a gas ejection hole inside the cushion (), a connector () on the other end side, and a stud bolt (). The cushion () has a bag-shaped chamber (), an extension portion () into which the inflator () is inserted, and a predetermined tab () held in the vicinity of the other end side of the inflator (). The rotating shaft () is disposed to pass through a space portion (E) surrounded by the chamber (), the extension portion (), the inflator (), and the tab (), and the cushion () is attached to the seat () by the stud bolt ().

An airbag apparatus capable of protecting an occupant by restraining movement of the occupant in an obliquely forward direction and towards a far side during a collision. A far side airbag apparatus (), which is an airbag apparatus, deploys between a driver seat () and a front passenger seat () arranged side by side in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle cabin (). The apparatus () includes a cushion () which is embedded in a floor of the vehicle cabin () and reaches a height at least equal to that of a pelvis region () of an occupant () seated in either one of the driver seat () and the front passenger seat () during inflation and deployment.

Airbag apparatus

A side airbag device having a plurality of chambers. The side airbagincludes: an inflator; a rear chamberwhich deploys at a side partof a seat backand a middle restraining partthat protrudes toward the front of a vehicle and a main partat a rear side. A sectioning wallwhich constitutes a front edge and an upper edge of the rear chamber. A curtain airbag device for a vehicle having a lightweight, simplified, and inexpensive structure can prevent a curtain airbag from being caught by a pillar garnish when the airbag is deployed and inflated, and can restrict the deployment direction of the airbag. The curtain airbag may have sub-chambers formed therein that are folded together with the curtain airbag, and disposed adjacently thereto. The sub-chambers have a communication path formed therein that communicates with the curtain airbag. The curtain airbag is provided with tab cloth strips for supporting and fixing the curtain airbag. The tab cloth strips have an attachment section formed thereon and an annular binding section that binds together the curtain airbag and the sub-chambers. The binding section is provided with a tearing section to be torn when the curtain airbag is deployed and inflated and an anchoring section anchoring the airbag to the vehicle body side.

Curtain airbag device for vehicle

A vertical cell is formed in a forward inflation section of an airbag. The vertical cell extends in a vehicle height direction at the rear of a pillar, and communicates through a bottom end of the vertical cell with a horizontal cell. When the inflation section is deployed, the folded horizontal cell or the lower side part of the airbag is pulled back toward the passenger compartment with respect to the side window opening. Accordingly, the horizontal cell deploys to an area below a bottom edge of the side window opening or a beltline in the passenger compartment on the inner side of a front side door.

Head protecting airbag system

A supplemental inflation part is formed in a portion of an upper-end side inflation section of an airbag, the portion overlapping a B-pillar garnish. The supplemental inflation part has a semicircular shape that forms a push-out part. Folding the push-out part allows the upper-end side inflation section to be inflated largely at the initial stage of deployment of the airbag. Thus, the airbag is pushed toward the passenger compartment with greater force upon its deployment. Therefore, a terminal part of a headliner that covers the folded airbag is largely opened so that the airbag deploys smoothly downward along the side of the vehicle body in the passenger compartment without interference from the top end of the B-pillar garnish.

An airbag is formed from fabric layers joined at a seam, and gas generator inflates the airbag by means of gas expelled from the gas generator's insertion end which has been inserted into the airbag. A gas guide is formed in the airbag in order to direct gas from the gas generator into the airbag and includes a pouch-shaped gas guide member in which are formed gas injection nozzles and an attachment orifice. The insertion end of the gas generator is inserted into the attachment orifice with the gas injection nozzles facing an interior of the airbag. A convex-shaped seam is included where the fabric layers are joined, and is disposed in opposition to the gas guide member. The gas guide member comes into contact with the convex-shaped seam as a result of the pressure of the flow of gas from the gas generator through the gas guide member.
