An airbag apparatus includes airbag having a vent hole formed therein, an inflator configured to emit gas for inflating the airbag, and a chamber configured to accommodate the inflator therein inside the airbag, the chamber having at least one discharge aperture for discharging gas emitted from the inflator to an inside of the airbag, and having a wall part configured to guide the emitted gas to the discharge aperture, wherein an external surface of the wall part is configured to partially cover the vent hole upon collapse of the chamber toward the vent hole.

Airbag apparatus

An airbag includes an airbag body formed by joining front and rear panels, an inlet of pressurized fluid, a vent hole communicating inside and outside of the airbag body, a regulation portion regulating discharge of the pressurized fluid from the vent hole and a coupling portion temporarily joining the front and rear panels. The inlet and the vent hole are formed on the rear panel. The regulation portion includes a connecting member, a vent hole cover and a link member. The connecting member regulates a thickness of the airbag body in the inflated state. The vent hole cover covers the vent hole and has one end portion supported by the rear panel and the other end portion joined to the coupling portion. The link member has one end portion joined to the vent hole cover and the other end portion joined to the connecting member.

In an air bag main body which inflates step by step in a first stage and a second stage by bonding its peripheral edge portion and bonding its inner side than the peripheral edge portion, a connecting member bridging between a lid member opening and closing a vent hole and a coupling member can be always set to a tension state by arranging an adjusting portion in the coupling member which defining a maximum facing distance between a front panel and a rear panel in the tension state in each of the first stage and the second stage, and whereby a closed state of the vent hole can be maintained.
