Chipless RFID tags and a tag system are provided, wherein the stepped impedance higher-order mode resonator includes two sets of composite transmission lines each set having an equal line length and including a plurality of transmission lines each having a plurality of specific levels to which the transmission line characteristic impedance is assigned, the two sets of composite transmission lines each connected in series, the sets being connected at the center to form an electrically symmetrical configuration and wherein the chipless RFID tags and the tag system allow each of the codes to be assigned to each of the structures of the stepped impedance higher-order mode resonator, and allow each of those codes to be identified by detecting each of the combinations of the higher-order mode resonance frequencies that may be produced from each the structures of the resonator that corresponds to each of the codes that have been assigned.

Multimode resonator and RFID tags using the same

A transmission line resonator includes distributed coupled lines including first distributed constant line which one ends are connected to a short-circuit grounding portion and second distributed constant line which is disposed in parallel to the first distributed constant line while being separated therefrom by a predetermined distance and which one ends opposing the short-circuit grounded one ends of the first distributed constant line are connected to the short-circuit grounding portion, and a single transmission line which both ends are connected to the respective other ends of the distributed coupled lines.

Transmission line resonator, band-pass filter and branching filter

A transmission line resonator includes a half-wavelength stepped-impedance resonator with two ends short-circuited to ground, and a capacitive element with one end connected to a center portion of the stepped-impedance resonator and the other end short-circuited to ground. The stepped-impedance resonator includes a first transmission line, a second transmission line, and a third transmission line. The second transmission line has a second line impedance and a second line length, with one end being connected to one end of the first transmission line and the other end being short-circuited to ground. The third transmission line has the second line impedance and the second line length, with one end being connected to the other end of the first transmission line and the other end being short-circuited to ground. The first line impedance is lowered in comparison with the second line impedance.

Transmission line resonator, bandpass filter using transmission line resonator, multiplexer, balanced-to-unbalanced transformer, power divider, unbalanced-to-balanced transformer, frequency mixer, and balance-type filter

Two conducting lines are arranged in a ring form in a TEM-mode transmission line. The end of one of the lines is connected to the end of the other line with opposite polarity, thus forming a resonator for resonation in a half-wavelength mode. This structure, free of line discontinuity which lowers the Q value, can provide a resonator having a high Q value equivalent to that of the one-wavelength resonator. Moreover, it is satisfactory to provide a half of a length of the one-wavelength resonator. Accordingly, the structure of the resonator has reduced size but little Q-value deterioration.

Ring resonator and antenna

A hemispherical dielectric resonator is arranged on a metal substrate to make a flat surface of the hemispherical dielectric resonator contact with the metal substrate, and a dielectric wave-guiding channel is connected with a curved side surface of the hemispherical dielectric resonator. Therefore, a dielectric resonance antenna in which the hemispherical dielectric resonator and the dielectric wave-guiding channel are placed on the same metal substrate is obtained. A signal transmitting through the dielectric wave-guiding channel is fed in the hemispherical dielectric resonator, the hemispherical dielectric resonator is resonated, and an electromagnetic wave is radiated. Therefore, the dielectric resonance antenna functions as a wave radiation device.

Dielectric resonator antenna for a mobile communication

A hemispherical dielectric resonator is arranged on a conductive substrate with a flat surface of the resonator in contact with the conductive substrate and fixed by a pair of fixing blocks. The dielectric resonator is fed with a signal feeder at a position at one side of the resonator such that intensity of the electric field is higher at that position. The fixing blocks contact a portion of the dielectric resonator where the intensity of the electric field is of a local minimum.

A filter of microwave and millimetric bands with spurious characteristic controlled is disclosed. A filter circuit on a top surface of the substrate including resonators electromagnetically resonating and coupled at a resonance frequency at a microwave band and a millimeter wave band, for filtering an input signal from the connectors through the resonator and outputting the filtered signal through the connector. The filter circuit is contained in a metal box including a top plate confronting the top surface and the filter circuit, side walls, and a bottom plate. An inside surface of the top plate has a shape other than a flat plane to control the spurious characteristic, that is, a protrusion. The bottom plate of the metal box may be coalesced. The spurious characteristic may be controlled by a hollow portion in the top plate. The protruding portion may be provided to the side walls. The spurious frequency may be controlled by a dielectric plate in the space in the shielding. Microstrip line resonators, patch resonators, or dielectric resonators are used as the resonator.

Filter with spurious characteristic controlled

A strip-line filter is provided with upper- and lower-stage resonators having the same electromagnetic characteristics. Each of the resonators has a one-wavelength square-shaped strip line and four open-end transmission lines connected to four coupling points A,C,B and D (or E,G,F and H) of each resonator which are spaced 90 degrees in electric length in that order. The square-shaped strip lines have a pair of parallel coupling lines closely placed in parallel to each other to electromagnetically couple the resonators. Therefore, the filter can be manufactured in a small size. A first microwave resonated in each resonator is electromagnetically influenced by two open-end transmission lines connected to two coupling points A and B (or E and F), and a second microwave resonated in each resonator is electromagnetically influenced by two open-end transmission lines connected to two coupling points C and D (or G and H). Therefore, resonance wavelengths of the microwaves can be longer than a line length of each square-shaped strip line. Also, the resonance wavelengths can be adjusted by trimming the transmission lines. Also, because all constitutional elements are made of strip lines, the filter can be made plane.

A millimeter waveguide is disclosed which includes: a first single crystal substrate having a groove therein; a conductor film on a surface of said groove and a surface of said first single crystal substrate connected to said surface of said groove; a second single crystal substrate covering said conductor film; and a microstrip line on a surface of said second single crystal substrate, exposed to a cavity in said groove. A protruding portion may be formed on a bottom surface of the groove. The microstrip line including foundation (nickel chromium) and conductive (gold) layers may be formed on a surface of the groove. A protruding portion may be formed on the second single crystal substrate, wherein the height of this protruding portion is less than the depth of the groove. A millimeter waveguide for a resonator is also disclosed wherein a cavity is formed in substrates with grounding conductive layers on surfaces of the cavity, a probe extending from a microstrip line on a top surface of the substrates. Similar millimeter waveguide is also disclosed wherein the probe is replaced by magnetic field coupling structure. A circuit apparatus is also disclosed which comprises the millimeter waveguide apparatus mentioned above mentioned and an active circuit fixed on the millimeter waveguide apparatus.

A strip dual mode loop resonator includes a loop-shaped strip line having a pair of straight strip lines arranged in parallel, an electric length of the loop-shaped strip line being equivalent to a wavelength of a microwave circulated in the loop-shaped strip line in two different directions according to a characteristic impedance of the loop-shaped strip line, and the straight strip lines being coupled to each other in electromagnetic coupling to change the characteristic impedance of the loop-shaped strip line. The microwave is transferred from an input strip line to the loop-shaped strip line through electromagnetic field induced by the microwave. Thereafter, the microwave is reflected in the straight strip lines of the loop-shaped strip line to produce reflected microwaves circulated in opposite directions. Thereafter, the reflected waves are resonated and filtered in dual mode in the loop-shaped strip line. Thereafter, the microwave formed of the reflected waves is transferred from the loop-shaped strip line to an output strip line through electromagnetic field induced by the microwave.

Strip line filter having dual mode loop resonators

A master station master antenna having a high directivity in an upper direction, a slave station and a slave antenna having a high directivity in the high direction are arranged on a floor of a room, and furniture is arranged on the floor between the master antenna and the slave antenna. Also, a master reflecting mirror is arranged on a ceiling of the room placed just above the master antenna, and a slave reflecting mirror is arranged on the ceiling placed just above the slave antenna. When an electric wave having a data signal is radiated from the master station, the electric wave radiated in the upper direction passes through a first transmission route and is reflected by the master reflecting mirror toward a horizontal direction. Thereafter, the electric wave passes through a second transmission route near the ceiling and is again reflected by the slave reflecting mirror toward the lower direction. Thereafter, the electric wave passes through a third transmission route and is received by the slave antenna because the slave antenna has a high directivity to receive the electric wave transmitted from the upper direction. Therefore, the data signal can be reliably detected by the slave station without being interrupted by the furniture.
