A photographing lens system includes at least one zooming lens. A photometric circuit measures brightness of an object. An exposure calculation circuit calculates an exposure value in accordance with an output from the photometric circuit. A distance measurement circuit measures a distance to the object. A magnification setting circuit determines a photographing magnification of an image of the object to be formed on a film arranging surface. An auto-zooming calculation circuit determines a focal length of the photographing lens system in accordance with an output from the magnification setting circuit, and an output from the distance measurement circuit. A drive circuit drives the zooming lens in accordance with an output from the auto-zooming calculation circuit. A switch is turned on upon a first stroke of a release button. A switching circuit outputs a first value in accordance with a setting value of the magnification setting circuit before the switch is turned on, and outputs a second value according to an output from the exposure calculation circuit after the switch is turned on. A display selectively displays the first and second values.

Auto-zooming camera apparatus having advanced

A camera having a projecting portion disposed at the rear of an aperture portion for forming an image to be photographed on a film and a grip portion formed on the right side of a lens barrel, the left-hand portion of the projecting portion forming a substantially flat surface together with the outer surface of the lens barrel. The camera thus constituted can be significantly easily used because the grip portion can be easily held, the right arm is not easily separated from the body causing camera shake to be prevented at the time of the photographing operation, the fingers of the photographer do not touch the face and do not obstruct the operation when the photographer places his eye next to the viewfinder and observes the finder and the left-hand wrist does not come in contact with the edge of the camera when the left hand is placed on the outer surface of the lens barrel.

Camera

An apparatus for exposure correction is provided for use with a camera of automatic exposure control type. An amount of exposure which is determined on the basis of an output from photometric means is shifted by a given correction value toward overexposure or underexposure in response to the operation of a manual operating member. The correction value can be varied either automatically or manually. The correction value can be changed by automatically reading information given on a film or a film container and representing a film latitude, by manually supplying a film latitude value, or by utilizing information representing a film speed which has a correlation with a film latitude. In this manner, a photograph having an improved gradation can be obtained by effectively utilizing a film latitude.

Apparatus for exposure correction

A focus detecting camera comprises a switching circuit for an automatic release which is operated in response to an in-focus detection signal, a shutter release button mechanism which is capable of maintaining a partially depressed condition of a shutter release button and an automatic release switch which is brought into operation prior to a shutter release operation, in cooperation with said shutter release button mechanism. Under the condition in which the automatic release switch is in operation with the release button partially depressed, the shutter release is performed by activation of the automatic release switching circuit in response to an in-focus detection signal which is detected when a moving object being photographed reaches a preset distance position.

Focus detecting camera

A power supply unit shared by a camera's motor drive and an electronic flash comprises a timing circuit which becomes operative at the termination of a shutter release operation, or a detector which detects the energization of a motor contained in the motor drive. Either timing circuit or detector operates to feed the motor drive or the electronic flash in alternate fashion in time so as to prevent both the motor drive and the electronic flash from being simultaneously fed from a single common d.c. source.

For use with a camera which is adapted for use with at least two interchangeable lenses having different brightness levels, a switching assembly is provided to enable one of at least two focussing, photosensitive elements each associated with a different one of the lenses. The switching assembly comprises first means normally assuming a first predetermined position in which one of the elements is enabled for operation, said one element being effective to detect an in-focus position when a corresponding interchangeable lens is mounted, and second means adapted to be forcibly displaced from a position in which said one element is enabled to another position in which the other element is enabled for operation.

Switching assembly for focussing, photosensitive elements of a camera

An improved electronic flash is provided having a selectively energizable source of illumination, control circuits for controlling the source of illumination according to a plurality of operational modes which include an automatic control mode and a manual control mode and a housing enclosing the source of illumination and the control circuits. According to a preferred embodiment of the instant invention, a frame is mounted upon an outer surface of the housing and an indicator panel may be removably mounted within the frame. The indicator panel is provided with front and rear surfaces and may be selectively mounted within the frame to externally expose either the front or rear surface thereof. One of the front or rear surfaces is provided with indicia for calculating a diaphragm value.

Electronic flash

An electrically driven film rewind apparatus for a camera comprises a film rewind motor, drive gearing driven by the motor for rotating a film rewind shaft, clutch means in the drive gearing for operatively connecting and disconnecting the film rewind shaft with or from the motor, and clutch control means including means for maintaining the clutch means in its operative position during a film rewind operation in which the clutch means is effective to operatively connect the film rewind shaft with the motor and for automatically causing the clutch means to be disconnected from the film rewind shaft from the motor immediately upon termination of a film rewind operation.
