A glass bonding material contains vanadium and phosphor as main glass components, and comprises in amounts converted as oxides of the elements in the components, 45 to 60% by weight of VO, 15 to 30% by weight of PO, 5 to 25% by weight of BaO, or contains a glass comprising at least vanadium, phosphor, barium and antimony, wherein the glass comprises in amounts converted as oxides, 15 to 35% by weight of BaO and SbOin total, and a weight ratio of BaO/SbOor SbO/BaO is 0.3 or less.

Display apparatus

A sealing glass of a low melting point phosphate glass composition contains 15 to 35% of BaO and SbO(in total) and the ratio by weight of BaO to SbOor SbOto BaO is 0.3 or less. Particularly the transition metal is vanadium and the glass contains VOof 45 to 60 wt % as vanadium oxide and POof 15 to 30 wt % as phosphorus oxide. The bonding material is a mixture of a filler and a vanadate-phosphate glass that contains VOof 45 to 60%, POof 20 to 30%, BaO of 5 to 15%, TeOof 0 to 10%, SbOof 5 to 10%, and WOof 0 to 5%. The particle size of the filler is in the range of 1 to 150 &#x3bc;m and the ratio of filler is 80% by volume or less of the adhesive glass.

A bonding glass containing VO: 25 to 50 wt %, TeO: 20 to 40 wt % and BaO: 5 to 30 wt %, and not containing lead.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a spacer which has an adequate Young's modulus for a spacer used in an image display panel and allows free adjustment of an electric resistance value, and an image display panel using the spacer. The object of the present invention is to enable the optical axis of an electron beam of a field emission electron gun mounting thereon an electron gun composed of a fibrous carbon material to be adjusted easily. Moreover, it is also to obtain an electron beam whose energy spread is narrower than that of the electron gun. A probe is made by attaching a carbon nanotubeto a mounting base end, which eliminates the effects of a carbon contamination film, to increase the bonding strength, increase the conductivity of the probe, and strengthen the bonding performance thereof by coating the entire circumference of the nanotube and the base with a coating film, rather than coating just one side. The work of mounting the carbon nanotube and mounting base end are performed under observation by a microscope. Further, the carbon contamination filmformed by an electron microscope is stripped off at a stage before bonding by the coating film.

A field-emission electron gun includes a field-emission cathode including a single fiber-like carbon substance and an electrically-conductive substrate for supporting the substance, an extractor for field-emitting electrons, an accelerating electrode for accelerating the electrons, an extracting power-supply for applying extracting voltage to the extractor, an accelerating power-supply for applying accelerating voltage to the accelerating electrode, and a unit for detecting and monitoring a part of emission current. In this field-emission electron gun, if emission-variation amount has become larger than a predetermined value, the extracting voltage is automatically boosted for a constant length of time, thereby increasing the emission current up to a predetermined value. Further, extracting voltage at the time of boosting the extracting voltage, voltage-boosting time, and the emission current are recorded, then being feed-backed to voltage-boosting conditions for the next-time extracting voltage. Moreover, the accelerating voltage is varied in correspondence with the voltage-boosting of the extracting voltage.
