The optical body is provided in which a composite structure of main structural bodies is deployed continuously within a plane of a base material, in which phase distributions of the main structural bodies within the plane of the base material are equivalent to amplitude distributions each obtained by subjecting a pupil function of a two-dimensional optical aperture to Fourier transform, and a peak ratio value is less than or equal to 2.5.

There is provided a reflective diffuser plate to achieve more uniform diffusion angle distribution properties. The reflective diffuser plate is a microlens array reflective diffuser plate including a single lens group positioned on a surface of a transparent base material. There are variations in aperture diameter and radius of curvature that respective single lenses constituting the single lens group have in the single lens group as a whole, and vertex positions of the respective single lenses are located irregularly. A luminance distribution of reflected light of light vertically incident on the single lens group is substantially uniform in a predetermined diffusion angle range. An optical element has a base material having a surface and a plurality of structures which are arranged on the surface of the base material at a fine pitch equal to or shorter than the wavelength of visible light and which each includes a convex or concave portion. The elastic modulus of the material forming the structures is 1 MPa or more and 1200 MPa or less, and the surface on which the structures are formed are hydrophilic.

A method of manufacturing the optical sheet is provided. The method includes: a first step of heating a composition containing a liquid crystal monomer or liquid crystal prepolymer and a photopolymerization initiator at a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point of the liquid crystal monomer or liquid crystal prepolymer and pressing the composition in a state where the composition is held between a master including a plurality of solid structures disposed continuously in one surface and having shape anisotropy in the one surface and a light transmission film disposed so as to face the solid structures of the master. The method also includes a second step of irradiating the composition with ultraviolet rays at a temperature lower than a phase transmission temperature to an isotropic phase to polymerize the liquid crystal monomer or liquid crystal prepolymer and, after that, separating the light transmission film from the master.
