Connector

A board connector includes terminal fittings () including board connecting portions (), and a housing () made of synthetic resin containing a fibrous filler (), disposed on a circuit board () and including a wall () rising in a vertical direction intersecting a surface of the circuit board (). The wall () has a terminal mounting region () in which the terminal fittings () are mounted. The wall () includes elongated recesses () with a longitudinal direction aligned with the vertical direction and arranged side by side in a width direction in a distant region () located on a side of the terminal mounting region () distant from the circuit board ().

Board connector and method for manufacturing housing of board connector

A housing () of a board connector () to be connected to a circuit board (P) is disposed such that a connection surface to a mating connector () is exposed to outside through an opening () of a case () capable of accommodating the circuit board (P) inside. The housing () includes outer locking protrusions () for locking a peripheral edge part of the opening () of the case () from outside of the case () so that the board connector () will not displace into the case () due to forces exerted by a mating connector () during a connection operation.

A board connector () has a tubular housing () that includes a back wall () with penetrating through holes (). A terminal fitting () includes a tab () to be arranged to project into the housing () through the through hole (), a press-fit portion () to be arranged inside the through hole () and a lead portion () to be arranged along a surface of a board (). The press-fit portion () is inserted into the through hole () with an overlapping margin in a cross-section along a height direction in which the lead portion () faces the surface of the board (). The tab () is inserted into the through hole () without any overlapping margin in the same cross-section.

Board connector

A retainer () is formed from a body () and extended portions (). The body () includes two deflectable legs () and the legs () include locking claws () to be held onto a male connector housing () at a partial locking position and locking protrusions () to be locked to the male terminal fittings (). A pushing surface () of the retainer () is extended in a front-back direction by the extended portions (). A posture correcting portion () is formed between the legs () and fits into a cut recess () of a partition wall () to be locked therein when the retainer () is at a full locking position, thereby restricting an oblique posture of the retainer ().

A connector includes a housing (), terminal fittings () to be inserted into the housing (), a retainer () configured to retain the terminal fittings () by being mounted into the housing () in a direction intersecting an inserting direction of the terminal fittings (), resilient locks () formed on a base end of the retainer () in a mounting direction into the housing () and configured to hold the retainer () in a state mounted in the housing () by being locked to the housing (). Slide-contact portions () formed on a tip side of the retainer () in the mounting direction into the housing () and extending parallel to the mounting direction of the retainer (), and guides () formed in the housing, extending parallel to the mounting direction of the retainer () and to be brought into sliding contact with the slide-contact portions ().

A female connector (F) includes a retainer () to be housed into a mounting hole () and selectively mounted, in a housing (), at a partial locking position for allowing insertion of terminal fittings () and a full locking position for locking already inserted terminal fittings (). A base () is at a rear end of the retainer () in a mounting direction into the housing () and is located outside a mounting hole () when the retainer () is at the partial locking position. Backlash eliminating portions () are formed on the base () and in the housing () and are configured to restrict a relative displacement of the retainer () with respect to the housing () when the retainer () is at the partial locking position.

A lock arm () is arranged on the upper surface of a female connector housing (), and lock-arm protection walls () stand at opposite widthwise sides of the lock arm (). Detector protection walls () are provided behind the lock-arm protection walls (), and first and second lock receiving portions () are formed on the inner surfaces thereof. Two inwardly deflectable locking arms () are formed on a detector () and locked to the first or second lock receiving portions () to restrict a backward movement when the detector () is at an initial position and a detecting position. The locking arms () are arranged utilizing dead spaces behind the lock-arm protection walls ().

A female connector (F) is formed such that a block-shaped terminal accommodating portion () accommodating female terminal fittings () is surrounded by a substantially rectangular tubular fitting (). A male connector (M) includes a rectangular tubular receptacle () to be fit into a clearance between the terminal accommodating portion () and the tubular fitting () and tabs () at the leading ends of male terminal fittings () are surrounded by the receptacle (). Bulges (and) are formed on four wall portions (and) of the tubular fittingand bulge outward of the tubular fitting () from an opening edge part at a front side of the tubular fitting ().

Connector and connector assembly

A connector () includes a retainer () made of synthetic resin for mounting in a housing () at a partial locking position for permitting the insertion of a terminal fitting () into the housing () and at a full locking position for retaining the inserted terminal fitting (). Locks () are formed on the housing () and the retainer () and are engageable to hold the retainer () at the partial locking position. A pressure receiving surface () is formed on the housing () and is configured to restrict a movement of the retainer () toward the full locking position by pressing the retainer () in directions intersecting a moving direction of the retainer () from the partial locking position to the full locking position when the retainer () is at the partial locking position.

A connector includes a one-piece rubber plug () arranged to cover a rear surface (R) of an inner housing () and has seal holes () aligned with cavities. An outer housing () has a tubular portion () surrounding the inner housing () and a rear wall () covering a rear surface (R) of the one-piece rubber plug (). The rear wall () has insertion holes () aligned with the seal holes (). Locking holes (A,B) are open on a rear surface (R) of the rear wall (), and locks (A,B) on the inner housing () engage with the locking holes (A,B) to lock the housings () in an assembled state.

Electrical connector with easily separable inner and outer housings

A connector (A) is provided with a housing () made of synthetic resin, press-fit holes () formed through the housing () and each having a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape, and terminal fittings () to be inserted into the press-fit holes (). Each terminal fitting () has a first press-fit portion () with a substantially rectangular cross-section and brings two substantially parallel flat areas () into surface contact with the inner wall of the press-fit hole () in a fluid- or liquid-tight manner. The first press-fit portion () has first and second bulges (A,B) that locally bulge in forward and backward directions parallel to the two flat areas over the entire areas in a width direction connecting the two flat areas () and press the inner wall of the press-fit hole () in a fluid- or liquid-tight manner.

An air hole () is formed to penetrate through a back wall () of a receptacle (). Leading end portions () of male terminal fittings () are inserted into an inner portion () of a tube () and the air hole () communicates with the inner portion (). If a female connector is connected in a posture inclined from a proper connecting posture, the tube () interferes with the female connector to prevent any further connecting operation. The tube () surrounds a plurality of male terminal fittings () together. A wall () for partially closing openings of the inner portion () is formed at a leading end portion of the tube ().
