A portable card type data storage device with a large capacity and low power consumption is provided which enalbes two storage mediums with different features to be installed into a single slot of an information processing device. The card type data storage device of the invention includes a case having a connection slot , a first connector adapted to be inserted into and connected with a connection slot of an information processing device such as a PC , a hard disk housed in the case , a second connector for connection with a semiconductor memory inserted into the connection slot , and a storage device control section . When the first connector is inserted into and connected with the information processing device , the storage device control section receives electric power from the information processing device , and makes the hard disk and the semiconductor memory , which is inserted into the connection slot and connected with the second connector , function as external storages of the information processing device . Thus, two storage mediums comprising the semiconductor memory of low power consumption and the hard disk of a large capacity can be connected with the information processing device through the single slot thereof.

The present invention relates to a mobile communication system. Particularly, the present invention provides a mobile communication system that has functions of autonomously relieving and recovering from a station-location-information loss phenomenon which may be caused when the system performs switching between active and standby home location registers in response to an occurrence of a fault. This mobile communication system has home location registers, visitor location registers, mobile switching centers, and mobile stations. In this mobile communication system, each of the home location register comprises a rerouting information acquisition section for performing routing information acquisition processing when receiving in response to a routing information acquisition message, which is sent out to one of the visitor location registers a response message indicating that a corresponding one of the mobile stations is not present.

A mobile communication system employs narrow paging areas for calling mobile stations without increasing location registration requests to a location management center. This system reduces useless calls and improves the efficiency of use of radio resources. Each local area ( - ) of the system is divided into narrow paging areas ( - ). A storage unit ( - ) is installed in each base station ( - ) or exchange station ( - ), to register mobile stations ( - ). When a base station receives a location registration request from a mobile station, the base station registers the mobile station in the storage unit, and if necessary, transmits a location registration request to the location management center. A mobile communication system which performs a handover operation with high-reliability, while the system can flexibly cope with various circumstances in which a mobile station is used, without changing a hardware structure. A plurality of radio base stations form respective radio communication cells. Each of the radio base stations performs a radio channel setting control including a handover with respect to a call originated for the mobile station located in one of the cells. An exchange is connected to each of the radio base stations via a communication link so that the exchange performs a call process of the call in association with the radio channel setting control performed by the radio base stations. After the call becomes a completed call and prior to a handover operation, a movement of the mobile station from one of the cells in which the mobile station is located to another one of the cells adjacent to the one of the cells is predicted based on at least one of procedures of the radio channel setting control and the call process. When the movement is predicted so as to select candidate cells which are candidates of a transferee of the completed call, a free radio channel of the cells is acquired. A path connected to the acquired free radio channel is formed in the communication link.

Mobile communication system for predicting a transfer location of a mobile station

In addition to an array of basic call modules each containing a description of a procedure for causing a call state transition from current stable state to next stable state, IN call modules are provided that are activated as tasks independently of the basic call modules. Of the IN call modules, modules equipped with a message generation function contain a description of a procedure necessary for the transmission of a message to a service control point (SCP), and modules equipped with a message analysis function contain a description of a procedure necessary for the analysis of a message from the SCP. When it is determined that a call requires an additional service as a result of DP processing in the basic call processing performed in a basic call module, the basic call processing is interrupted, and an appropriate IN call module is activated. When the IN call processing performed by the IN call module is completed, the basic call module is reactivated to resume the basic call processing.

A measurement unit measures a degree of supply of the additional information supplied to at least one of the subscriber terminals communicating with each other. A database unit stores accounting information used to calculate a fee for a communication between the subscriber terminals communicating with each other. A control unit calculates the fee for the communication between the subscriber terminals communicating with each other on the basis of the accounting information and the degree of supply of the additional information measured by the measurement unit.
