A transferring apparatus for a transfer press machine which includes a plurality of working stations disposed in a work-transferring direction and provided with lower dies and upper dies cooperating to press workpieces, so that the workpieces are sequentially transferred between the working stations. A plurality of sets of pairs of left and right carriages are associated with one of the working stations. The spacings between adjacent twos of the sets of the carriages are adjusted in said transferring direction during operation. At least one cross bar is mounted to extend between the left and right carriages of each set and has suction cups mounted on an intermediate portion thereof for holding the workpiece. The cross bar is cyclically movable in the transferring direction and in a vertical direction. A pair of left and right guide bars vertically movably are mounted to extend along opposite sides of the working stations to provide the cyclic motion of the cross bar. A pair of left and right feed plates are supported on the guide bars for movement in the transferring direction. The structure for adjusting supports the carriages on said feed plates so that their positions can be adjusted. Alternatively, feed plates are supported for movement in the transferring direction on a pair of left and right guide bars which are fixedly mounted to extend along opposite sides of the working stations to provide the cyclic motion of the cross bar. The carriages are supported on the feed plates respectively so that their positions can be adjusted with the cross bar being vertically movably supported on said carriages.

Transferring apparatus for transfer press

A path for retreating movement of a cross bar from a standby position between a drawing mold and a mold of the next step to the drawing mold for holding the workpiece drawn by the drawing mold and a path for advancing movement of the cross bar holding the workpiece to the mold of the next step are formed into an upwardly smoothly curved line, and raising of a blank holder for the drawing mold is stopped temporarily for a period until the workpiece is discharged from the drawing mold by the cross bar. The paths for movement of the cross bar includes no suddenly turning portion and hence, any vibration of the cross bar due to an inertia force is prevented. Even if the paths for movement of the cross bar associated with all the molds are established in the same form, it is avoided that the cross bar or the workpiece interferes with the blank holder in the drawing mold.

A method for producing a wheel rim of an automotive vehicle comprising the steps of supporting a cylindrical body on a vertical axis between an upper punch attached to an upper mold and a lower punch attached to a lower mold; fitting a side die to an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body, with the cylindrical body supported; then lowering the upper punch together with the upper mold to insert the upper punch into an upper portion of the cylindrical body and to form the upper end portion of the cylindrical body into the flange portion by press forming between the upper punch and the side die; thereafter releasing the cylindrical body from the supported state at its lower end surface; and further lowering the upper punch together with the side die and the cylindrical body to insert the lower punch into a lower portion of the cylindrical body and to form the lower end portion of the cylindrical body into the flange portion by press forming between the lower punch and the side die, whereby the working steps can be reduced in number.

Method for producing wheel rim

A press machine includes at least one mobile bolster movable with respect to the press machine, a plurality of die assemblies mounted on the mobile bolster and arranged in a row, a plurality of handling bars disposed in retracted positions between the die assemblies and movable, when one pressing cycle is completed, for gripping and transferring a plurality of workpieces successively through the die assemblies, and a plurality of handling bar gripping devices disposed in the retracted positions closely to the opposite sides of the side assemblies. A method of changing die assemblies comprises the steps of moving the mobile bolster out of the pressing machine, tilting the handling bar gripping devices away from the die assemblies, carrying the die assemblies away from the mobile bolster, carrying new die assemblies onto the mobile bolster in an order opposite to that in which the die assemblies were carried away from the mobile bolster, and returning the tilted handling bar gripping devices to upstanding positions after the new die assemblies are carried onto the mobile bolster.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for attaching a ring-like part to the outer periphery of a columnar material, as, for example, in the assembling of a catalytic converter. The columnar material is positioned and supported with its axis oriented horizontally. A guide member is supported from the side to position it adjacent to the columnar material on the same axis as the columnar material. The guide member has an outer inclined surface enlarged towards the columnar material. The guide member is then supported in the axial direction and at the same time, has the side support thereof released. The ring-like part is then pushed while guiding it on the outer inclined surface of the guide member to fit it over a portion of the columnar material. The pushing of the ring-like part is released and then the guide member is again supported from the sides, while at the same time, the support thereof from the axial direction is released. Using the disclosed method and apparatus, it is possible to attach the ring-like part to the columnar material without previously passing the ring-like part over the guide member.

As used for such crank shaft forging method, provided are rough forging mold consisting of upper and lower molds in which raised portions between balance weight forming recesses of upper and lower molds are inclined to together form a cavity which gradually enlarges towards a crank pin forming recess, and which is fittable with fitting grooves of a billet, and inclined offset surfaces are formed on opposing surfaces of both the molds; and a finish forging mold consisting of upper and lower molds in which inclined offset surfaces are formed on opposing surfaces of the molds.
