In a glass antenna for a windshield such as a side windshield located at either side of a passenger compartment of an automotive vehicle, a feed terminal is disposed on a proximity to a first corner of the windshield, a substantially letters shaped antenna element comprising: a first wire segment ( &prime;) extended from the feed terminal at the proximity to the first corner toward a substantially opposite direction to the first corner along at least a first side edge of the windshield, a second wire segment ( ) is extended from a tip of the first wire segment toward a proximity to a center of a second side edge of the windshield, a third wire segment ( ) is extended from a tip of the second wire segment toward a proximity to a second corner of the windshield which is opposite to the first corner, a fourth wire segment ( ) is extended from a tip of the third wire segment toward a substantially opposite direction to the second corner along a third edge of the windshield, and a plurality of other antenna elements are connected to the feed terminal and extended in parallel to one another in a first space defined between the first and second wire segments of the letters shaped antenna element and in a second space defined between the second, third, and fourth wire segments thereof.

Glass antenna for side windshield of automotive vehicle

There is provided a glass antenna system which is attached to a vehicle rear window glass for receiving FM and AM radio broadcast waves. The glass antenna system comprises a defogging heater element disposed on the rear window glass in a way as to leave a space therearound. The defogging heater element includes a plurality of heating strips and a pair of bus bars. The glass antenna system further comprises an antenna having a feed point disposed in a widthwise marginal area of said space under the heater element, a first vertical conductive strip disposed in an area of said space between one of the bus bars and a lateral edge of the window glass and connected at a lower end thereof to the feed point, a horizontal conductive strip disposed in an area of the space above the heater element and connected at one of opposite ends thereof to an upper end of the first vertical conductive strip, and a second vertical conductive strip connected at an upper end thereof to the other of the opposite ends of the horizontal conductive strip and extending downwardly therefrom in a way as to intersect at right angles while being electrically connected to the heating strips.

Glass antenna system for vehicles

A glass antenna attached to a vehicle side window glass for receiving radio waves such as FM radio broadcast waves and AM radio broadcast waves is provided. The glass antenna comprises a feed point disposed adjacent one of the lateral edges of the window glass, a first vertical element extending upwardly from the feed point along one of the lateral edges to a place adjacent the upper edge of the window glass, a first horizontal element extending from the first vertical element along the upper edge to a nearly central portion of the window glass, a second vertical element extending from the first horizontal element through the nearly central portion to a place adjacent the lower edge of the window glass, a second horizontal element extending from the second vertical element along the lower edge to a place adjacent the other of the lateral edges, and a third vertical element extending upwardly from the second horizontal element along the other of the lateral edges of the window glass.
