A base material processing apparatus includes a first detector, a second detector, and an arithmetic unit. The first detector intermittently detects the position of the edge of the base material in the width direction at a first detection position to acquire a first detection result (Ra). The second detector intermittently detects the position of the edge of the base material in the width direction at a second detection position located downstream of the first detection position to acquire a second detection result (Rb). The arithmetic unit calculates a transport error of the base material by comparison between the first detection result (Ra) and the second detection result (Rb). The controller changes detection timing of at least one of the first detector and the second detector.

Base material processing apparatus and detection method

A base material processing apparatus includes a tension detector that detects tension on a base material that is being transported, an encoder that detects the amounts of rotational drive of rollers that transport the base material, edge position detectors that detect the position of an edge of the base material in the width direction, and a transport displacement calculation part that calculates a transport displacement of the base material in the transport direction. The transport displacement calculation part includes an operation unit that has completed learning through machine learning and outputs the transport displacement on the basis of at least one of the result of detecting the tension, the result of detecting the amounts of rotational drive of the rollers, and the result of detecting the position of the edge. Accordingly, the transport displacement can be detected with high accuracy and low cost.

Base material processing apparatus and base material processing method

A transport section transports a continuous printing paper in a predetermined transport direction. A first print section ejects first ink to the printing paper. A second print section is provided in a downstream side of the first print section in the transport direction, and ejects second ink to the printing paper. An ink amount estimating section estimates an amount of ink ejected to the printing paper from before printing by the first print section to before printing by the second print section, based on print data. A deviation amount obtaining section obtains a deviation amount between a print position by the first print section and a print position by the second print section at least based on the estimated ink amount. A print control section controls the print position by the second print section based on the deviation amount.

Printing apparatus

A base material processing apparatus includes a transport mechanism, a mark detector, and a calculating unit. The transport mechanism transports an elongated strip-shaped base material in a longitudinal direction thereof along a predetermined transport path. The mark detector acquires a detection result by detecting a mark continuously at a detecting position on the transport path. The mark is applied previously to an end of the base material in a width direction thereof. The calculating unit calculates a transport speed of the base material, the amount of positional deviation of the base material in a transport direction, and tension on the base material applied in the transport direction on the basis of the detection result and information about the mark applied previously to the base material.

A base material processing apparatus includes a first edge sensor, a second edge sensor, and a displacement amount calculation part. The first edge sensor acquires a first detection result (R) by detecting the position of an edge of a base material in the width direction at a first detection position. The second edge sensor acquires a second detection result (R) by detecting the position of the edge of the base material in the width direction at a second detection position. The displacement amount calculation part calculates the amount of displacement in the position of the base material in the transport direction on the basis of the first detection result (R) and the second detection result (R). Accordingly, the amount of displacement in the position of the base material in the transport direction can be detected without depending on images such as register marks.

A displacement amount calculation part in a base material processing apparatus calculates the degree of matching between an upstream data section and a downstream data section included in an upstream and a downstream detection results, which indicate time-varying changes in the positions of an edge of the base material in the width direction at an upstream and a downstream detection positions. This calculation uses the results of comparison between signals in a predetermined frequency band extracted from the upstream detection result and signals in the predetermined frequency band extracted from the downstream detection result. Accordingly, a downstream data section that is highly matched with the upstream data section can be identified with high accuracy, and the amount of displacement of the base material in the transport direction can be detected with high accuracy on the basis of an identification result.

A displacement amount calculation part in a base material processing apparatus calculates the degree of matching between an upstream data section and a downstream data section included in a first and a second detection results, which indicate time-varying changes in the positions of an edge of a base material in the width direction at an upstream and a downstream detection positions. This calculation uses calculation results obtained by sequentially calculating the degrees of matching between sub-data sections in the upstream data section and downstream sub-data sections in the downstream data section. This reduces the amount of computation and enables highly accurate detection of the amount of displacement of the base material in the transport direction on the basis of an identification result of the downstream data section that is highly matched with the upstream data section.

A base material processing apparatus includes first and second edge sensors and a displacement amount calculation part. The first edge sensor acquires a first detection result (R) by detecting the position of an edge of a base material in a width direction at a first detection position. The second edge sensor acquires a second detection result (R) by detecting the position of the edge of the base material at a second detection position. The displacement amount calculation part calculates the amount of displacement in the position of the base material in the transport direction or the amount of difference in the transporting speed of the base material on the basis of the first and second detection results (R, R). Thus, the amount of displacement in the position or the amount of difference in the transporting speed can be detected without depending on images such as register marks.

A base material processing apparatus detects the amount of widthwise misregistration of a base material in each detection position (Po, and Pa to Pd) lying on a transport path, and then calculates a difference between a detection value in the reference position (Po) and a detection value in each of the remaining detection positions (Pa to Pd) as a meandering amount. Subsequently, the base material processing apparatus determines coefficients obtained when a variation with time in each meandering amount is applied to a predetermined model function, and thereafter calculates coefficients of the model function predicted as the meandering of the base material in each processing position (Pto P), based on the determined coefficients and a positional relationship between the reference position (Po), the remaining detection positions (Pa to Pd) and the processing positions (Pto P). This achieves the prediction of the meandering of the base material in the processing positions (Pto P) with accuracy without any detector disposed in the processing positions (Pto P).

Base material processing apparatus and method of predicting meandering

In an image recording apparatus, edge sensors are disposed in front of and behind a recording position on a transport path of printing paper. The edge sensors detect a widthwise position of the printing paper in respective positions upstream and downstream of the recording position. A controller in the image recording apparatus calculates the widthwise position of the printing paper in the recording position, based on detection results from the edge sensors. Thus, the widthwise position of the printing paper in the recording position is identified without the placement of an edge sensor in the recording position on the transport path.

Apparatus for and method of recording image

In printing apparatus, an edge sensor detects a serpentine amount caused by transportation of a web. A predicted waveform data generating unit generates predicted waveform data on the serpentine amount to be produced in the following web in accordance with actually measured waveform data on the detected serpentine amount. A correcting unit corrects a printing position of an image in accordance with a shift amount, and applies a corrected printing position to a printing head. Here, the shift amount is determined with the shift amount determining unit in accordance with the predicted waveform data. Accordingly, the shift amount is determinable in accordance with the actually measured waveform data on the serpentine amount detected with the edge sensor more accurately than that through a method in which a shift amount is directly determined. This allows suppressed misregister.
