A phosphor in which water adsorption onto the surface of a blue phosphor is inhibited, luminance degradation and chromaticity shift of the phosphor is decreased, or discharge characteristics thereof is improved, and a plasma display device using the phosphor. In phosphor layers used for plasma display, selectively coating at least the vicinity of the sides of planes of mirror symmetry containing Ba atoms in a blue phosphor with an oxide or a fluorine-containing oxide inhibits water adsorption onto the surface of the blue phosphor, decreases luminance degradation and chromacity shift of a phosphor, or improves discharge characteristics thereof.

A method of manufacturing a plasma display device which prevents the brightness of a phosphor layer from lowering is disclosed, and the method can form the phosphor layer in a stable manner because a nozzle is free from clogging. At least one of the phosphor layers has a green phosphor layer containing green phosphor having zero or positive charges and a crystal structure of ZnSiO:Mn. Green phosphor ink, whose major ingredient is the green phosphor, is applied through the nozzle to discharging cells, thereby forming the green phosphor layer. The green phosphor ink is formed of green phosphor powder coated with an oxide having positive charges, or the ink is formed by crushing the green phosphor powder originally having negative charges and a crystal structure of ZnSiO:Mn such that the powder changes to have positive charges.

Plasma display device and production method therefor

A plasma display device exhibits suppressed luminance degradation of a phosphor, a suppressed change in chromaticity and improved discharge characteristics as a result of suppression of adsorption of water or hydrocarbon-containing gas on a surface of a blue phosphor. A blue phosphor layer used in the plasma display device is formed of a compound expressed by BaMgAlO:Euor BaSrMgAlO:Euand includes at least one element that is selected from Nb, Ta, Pr, P, As, Sb, Bi and Tm which substitutes for a part of its Al or Mg element.

The present invention aims to inhibit water adsorption onto the surface of a blue phosphor(blue fluorescent material), decrease luminance degradation and chromaticity shift of a phosphor, or improve discharge characteristics thereof. Used in a phosphor for a plasma display is a blue phosphor in which trivalent Eu ions substitute for part of divalent Eu ions. Plasma display apparatus, fluorescent material, and fluorescent material manufacturing method

A plasma display device comprises blue phosphor which restricts adsorption of water and hydrocarbon gases to a surface thereof, reduces degradation of luminance and chromaticity change, and improves discharge characteristic. Among phosphor layers used for a plasma display, a blue phosphor layer comprises one of compounds symbolized by BaMgAlO:Euand BaSrMgAlO:Eu, of which phosphor contains 0.2 to 0.8 in number x of Eu atoms, and the Eu atoms comprises 25% to 85% concentration of bivalent Eu ions, and 15% to 75% concentration of trivalent Eu ions.

A plasma display device includes a blue phosphor composed of a compound represented by MeMgSiO:Eu (where, Me is at least calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), or barium (Ba)). Concentration of bivalent Eu ions is 45 to 95% and concentration of trivalent Eu ions is 5 to 55%, of the europium (Eu) atoms contained in the blue phosphor layer. The plasma display device has less luminance degradation in a panel manufacturing process, high luminance, and long lifetime.

The present invention relates to a plasma display device apt to increase luminance of a phosphor layer and prevent degradation of a discharge characteristic, and to a phosphor used for the device. This plasma display device has a green phosphor having a crystal structure of ZnSiO:Mn, and a monovalent oxide is substituted for part of the green phosphor. The monovalent oxide is one or more of lithium oxide (LiO), sodium oxide (NaO), potassium oxide (KO), cesium oxide (CsO), rubidium oxide (RbO), copper oxide (CuO), and silver oxide (AgO). This structure allows reduction of oxygen defects occurring in the green phosphor, suppression of the luminance decrease of the green phosphor, and improvement of a discharge characteristic.

Phosphor and method for production thereof and plasma display device

A blue phosphor composing a blue phosphor player in a plasma display device has a crystal structure of BaEuMgAlOor BaEuSrMgAlO. In this blue phosphor, La substitutes for a proportion of Ba or Sr so as to achieve a high-luminance plasma display device with less luminance deterioration in panel manufacturing processes.

Disclosed is a plasma display device that provides high luminance and minimal degradation in luminance under panel operations. A blue phosphor in a phosphor layer has a crystal structure of MeMgSiO:Eu or MeMgSiO:Eu (where, Me contains at least one of Ca, Sr, and Ba) produced with a precursor that is obtained by any one of methods: an aqueous solution synthesis method, a spray synthesis method, a hydrothermal synthesis method, and a hydrolysis method. The phosphor has an average particle diameter ranging from 0.1 to 3.0 &#x3bc;m.

Plasma display device

The present invention has as its objective to provide a display panel with silver electrodes without yellowing, and a method of producing such a display panel. After patterning and applying silver paste to form display electrodes on a substrate, glass paste is applied to form the dielectric layer, covering the electrodes, and both layers are simultaneously baked. Glass frit contained in the silver paste is chosen to have a lower softening point than die glass contained in the glass paste, and the baking process is divided into a first step, in which the baking temperature is equal to or higher than the softening point of the glass frit but lower than the softening point of the glass, and a second step, in which the baking temperature is higher than the softening point of the glass. This process allows a display panel to be produced with fewer bakings and reduced yellowing.

Display panel production method

A glass substrate containing Na or K and being fabricated by a floating method has a surface coated with a metal oxide layer having a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of the glass substrate. Ag electrodes are provided on the metal oxide layer. This provides a plasma display panel with high image quality since the panel is prevented from migration of Ag between electrodes, thus having the glass substrate prevented from being tinted yellow. As a result, the plasma display panel at high quality can be implemented using the glass substrate.
