A thermal transfer sheet according to the present disclosure includes a substrate and a transfer layer disposed on the substrate. The transfer layer includes at least a peeling layer containing an allyl resin. This provides a thermal transfer sheet with high transferability and thin line printability.

An intermediate transfer medium according to the present disclosure includes a substrate and a transfer layer including at least a receiving layer, in which a logarithmic damping ratio ΔE determined by subjecting the receiving layer to rigid-body pendulum measurement at 70° C. is 0.10 or more.

Provided is a thermal transfer sheet that can suppress thermal fusion of the thermal transfer sheet and a transfer-receiving article and can improve the durability of a printed article obtained by transferring a transfer layer onto the transfer-receiving article, even if energy applied to the thermal transfer sheet was increased upon transferring the transfer layer onto the transfer-receiving article. This thermal transfer sheetcomprises a thermal transfer layeron one surface of a substrate. The transfer layercomprises one or more layers, and among the layers constituting the transfer layer, the layer closest to the substratecontains a copolymer of isobutyl (meth)acrylate and a monomer having a carboxyl group, and the acid value of the copolymer is not less than 40 mg KOH/g.

A thermal transfer sheet, which includes a transfer layer, is superposed on a transfer receiving article, and while the transfer layer is continuously transferred onto the article by a printer comprising a sheet supplying device, heating device, sheet winding device, measuring device located between the heating and sheet winding devices to measure the tensile strength of the thermal transfer sheet conveyed along a conveyance path, and release device located between the heating and the measuring devices, under conditions including an applied power for printing: 0.15 W/dot and a conveying speed for the thermal transfer sheet: 84.6 mm/sec., the transfer layer transferred on the article is released from a constituent member in contact with the transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet, has a tensile strength measured by the measuring device of 0.1 N/cm or less.

There is provided a transfer sheet with improvement in smudges and blurs of a transfer layer when printed matters are produced even after storing the transfer sheet under high temperatures. The transfer sheet according to the present invention comprises a substrate, and in the order a peel layer and a transfer layer on the substrate, wherein the peel layer contains a binder resin, a silicone oil and/or a wax component and the total contents of the silicone oil and the wax component in the peel layer is 0.1 mass % or more and 15 mass % or less, based on the solid content of mass of the binder resin.

Transfer sheet

There is provided a transfer sheet with improvement in smudges and blurs of a transfer sheet when printed matters are produced. A transfer sheet according to the present invention comprises a substrate, and in the order a peel layer and a transfer layer on the substrate, wherein the peel layer contains a binder resin containing an acrylic-based resin of more than 0 mass % and 49 mass % or less and a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate resin of 51 mass % or more and less than 100 mass %.

In an intermediate transfer medium, a substrate, protective layers having a layered structure of two or more layers, and a receiving layer are layered in this order. One layer in the protective layers having the layered structure contains, as a main component, one material or a mixture of two or more materials selected from the group consisting of polyesters having a high polymerization degree, a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of not less than 12,000 and a Tg of not less than 60&#xb0; C., polycarbonates and polyester urethanes. Another layer in the protective layers having the layered structure contains one or more materials selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohols, polyvinyl butyrals, polyvinyl acetals and polyvinyl pyrrolidones or includes a cationic resin, and the receiving layer contains a side chain-type aralkyl-modified silicone in an amount of 0.5-5% by weight on a base of the total weight of the receiving layer.

The purpose is to provide a protective layer transfer sheet and an intermediate transfer medium, in which a transfer layer has excellent foil tearing property during transfer and in which sufficient durability can be imparted to the thermally transferred image. The above problem is solved by a protective layer transfer sheet () in which a transfer layer () is provided on one surface of a substrate () so as to be peelable from the substrate (), wherein the transfer layer () comprises a peeling layer () and a protective layer () which are layered in this order from the substrate; wherein the protective layer () includes an acrylic polyol resin having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of more than 80&#xb0; C. or a polyester polyurethane resin having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not less than 50&#xb0; C.; and wherein the peeling layer includes at least one selected from a group consisting of polyester resins, acrylic urethane resins, and epoxy resins.

The above problem is solved by a protective layer transfer sheet in which a transferable protective layer () is provided on one surface of a substrate () so as to be peelable from the substrate (), wherein the transferable protective layer () has a layered structure in which a first protective layer (A), and a second protective layer (B) which is in contact directly with the first protective layer (A), are provided in this order from the substrate (); the first protective layer contains an epoxy-cured resin in which a reactive resin having a functional group capable of reacting with an epoxy group and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not less than 60&#xb0; C. is reacted with and cured by an epoxy curing agent; and the second protective layer (B) contains a polyester resin having a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of not less than 8000 and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not less than 45&#xb0; C.

Protective layer transfer sheet, and the intermediate transfer medium

There is provided a thermal transfer sheet that, by virtue of flexibility and heat resistance imparted by a primer layer constituting the thermal transfer sheet, is less likely to be broken even upon exposure to a high level of thermal energy and is highly suitable for high-speed printing. The thermal transfer sheet has a thermally transferable colorant layer provided on one surface of a base material sheet, and a heat-resistant slipping layer provided on the other surface of the base material sheet through a primer layer. The primer layer contains at least a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a crosslinking agent.
