An ink jet recording apparatus, which records a image on a recording medium using a recording head provided with a plurality of ink discharge ports, comprises a rotative platen having a plurality of supporting pieces arranged at predetermined intervals; rotation means for rotating the platen; conveyance means for conveying the recording medium; control means for controlling the rotation means to rotate the platen in the conveying direction of the recording medium in synchronism with the conveyance of the recording medium when recording is performed near the edge of the recording medium conveyed by the conveyance means. With the structure thus arrange, this ink jet recording apparatus is capable of performing the entire area recording (no margin recording) on a recording medium without staining the platen that supports the recording medium at the time of recording.

Ink jet recording apparatus and recording method therefor

An ink jet recording apparatus, which records a image on a recording medium using a recording head provided with a plurality of ink discharge ports, includes a rotative platen having a plurality of supporting pieces arranged at predetermined intervals; a rotation unit for rotating the platen; a conveyance units for conveying the recording medium; a control unit for controlling the rotation unit to rotate the platen in the conveying direction of the recording medium in synchronism with the conveyance of the recording medium when recording is performed near the edge of the recording medium conveyed by the conveyance unit. With the structure thus arranged, this ink jet recording apparatus is capable of performing the entire area recording (no margin recording) on a recording medium without staining the platen that supports the recording medium at the time of recording.

In a recording apparatus for stably conveying a recording medium to a recording portion by a convey belt, the recording medium is passed through a nip of a pair of separation supply rollers and enters into a nip between a convey belt and a driven roller and thereafter is conveyed by the convey belt to a recording portion. When a leading end of the recording medium is detected by a recording medium detect sensor, the supply roller is disengaged from the separation roller, so that the convey belt is not subjected to the influence of the pair of separation supply rollers via the recording medium and when a trailing end of the recording medium is detected by a recording medium detect sensor, the driven roller is disengaged from the convey belt, so that the recording medium is not subjected to conveyance resistance from the driven roller.

Recording apparatus

A sheet feeding device is provided with a sheet feeding unit for feeding sheets supported on a sheet support means, and sheet separator means provided downstream of the sheet feeding unit with respect to the sheet feeding direction, the sheets fed by the sheet feeding unit being separated one by one by the sheet separator and fed. The sheet separator is comprised of an inclined surface against which the sheet fed by the sheet feeding unit abuts, a dash member provided downstream of the inclined surface with respect to the sheet feeding direction and against which the leading end of the sheet riding over the inclined surface abuts, and a resilient member for displaceably supporting the dash member when the sheet abuts against the dash member.

A sheet-postprocessing apparatus includes a sheet discharger which discharges sheets to a stacker, the stacker including a first tray adjacent to the discharger for supporting trailing portions of the sheets discharged by the discharger and a second tray for supporting leading portions of the sheets, the second tray being movable in a vertical direction and disposed downstream of the first tray with respect to a sheet discharge direction, the trays being inclined so that sheets stacked thereon slide by their own weight, such that a stack of sheets supported on both trays are stapled by a stapler, the stapled set of sheets then being pushed out of the first tray to be stacked entirely by the second tray. The sheet post-processing apparatus operates in two modes, a stapling mode and a non-stapling mode wherein sheets discharged by the discharger bypass the first tray and are supported entirely by the second downstream tray.
