A time management section is configured to change an output voltage in accordance with a temperature change characteristic of a lamp allowed to cool down. For restart of the lamp after the turn-off of the lamp, the lamp is cooled by a fan before the operation of turning on the lamp when it is judged that the temperature of the lamp is higher than a predetermined value, based on the output voltage from the time management section. The lamp is immediately turned on without the cooling of the lamp by the fan when it is judged that the temperature of the lamp is lower than the predetermined value.

Projection display apparatus with capability of controlling whether to cool lamp depending on lamp temperature when restarting lamp

It is an object to obtain a light source device and a projection type display device in which a fragment can be completely enclosed therein even if a discharge lamp bursts during lighting. During normal lighting of a discharge lamp ( ), an internal space of a light source device ( ) and an external space are spatially connected to each other through a vent hole ( ) formed on a cutoff valve mechanism ( ) and a vent hole ( ) formed on a concave reflecting mirror ( ). Cooling air is introduced and discharged between the internal space and the external space so that the discharge lamp ( ) is cooled down. The pressure wave presses a movable valve ( ) provided in the cutoff valve mechanism ( ) through the vent hole ( ). By the pressing carried out with the pressure wave, the movable valve ( ) is pushed up in a direction of an arrow (K ), thereby closing the vent hole ( ).

Light source device and projection type display capable of enclosing fragment herein in case of burst of discharge lamp during lighting

A projecter having a lamp, a lamp box containing the lamp, an outlet fan for discharging air from the lamp box, an optical system member which receives a light beam from the lamp and outputs an image light, an optical system box containing the optical system member, and an inlet fan for blowing outside air into the optical system box. The projector also has a first ventilating duct that directs the outside air blown in by the inlet fan into the lamp box.

A light source apparatus has a luminescent tube, a reflecting mirror, a securing member and bonding material as a holding member disposed to block a part of a small opening of the reflecting mirror and holding the luminescent tube in the reflecting mirror, a transparent protection plate for blocking the large opening of the reflecting mirror, a ventilator for sucking air inside the reflecting mirror through the small opening and sending out the air through an outlet, and a housing for combining the reflecting mirror and the ventilator; and the reflecting mirror includes an air inlet disposed closer to the large opening than a center position of the luminescent tube.

Light source apparatus

In a tape loading mechanism, a guide groove is formed in a main plate and a drum base that defines the path of a movable tape guide. Each of the main plate and the drum base is provided with a step portion in the thickness direction at a joining area where the drum base is joined to the main plate. These step portions overlap with each other. By using this joining method, a die cast drum base can be thinned so that the dimensional accuracy is improved and a movable tape guide can be moved smoothly along the guide groove.
