Long-chain, branched, propylene-based polymers, of which the melt index and the molecular weight distribution and the melt tension and the limiting viscosity both satisfy specific requirements, have good physical properties that are comparable to or better than those of conventional propylene-based polymers. They have good melt workability and are favorable to large-size blow molding and extrusion foaming. They are favorably used as miscibility improvers for propylene homopolymers and propylene-based copolymers.

Olefin-based polymer

Provided are an aluminium-oxy compound obtained through reaction of an organoaluminium compound with water, which is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and in which the amount of the organoaluminium compound remaining is at most 10% by weight; a carrier comprising the aluminium-oxy compound and an inorganic compound; and a catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising the carrier and a transition metal compound. The catalyst component for olefin polymer production comprises the aluminium-oxy compound and gives polyolefins with good polymer morphology.

Olefinic polymer

In olefin polymer production, for which is used a metallocene-type catalyst having a double-crosslinked indenyl or substituted indenyl group, a small amount of hydrogen is added to the polymerization system. Concretely, hydrogen is added thereto so that the hydrogen concentration in the olefin being polymerized could be from 0.01 to 10 mol % or hydrogen could be in the polymerization system in an amount of from 10 to 20000 mols relative to one mol of the transition metal in the metallocene-type catalyst. Hydrogen added to the olefin polymer production system enhances the polymerization activity of the catalyst used, and the catalyst could exhibit high activity in the presence of hydrogen.

A process for efficiently preparing an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid diester, which comprises reacting a conjugated diene, carbon monoxide, an alcohol and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) a platinum metal, a salt thereof or a complex compound of a platinum metal, (b) at least one metal salt selected from the group consisting of a copper salt, an iron salt and a manganese salt and (C) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (1) an alkali metal compound or an alkaline earth metal compound, (2) a rare earth metal compound, (3) a metal compound of the groups IIIA, IVA, IVB, VA, VB or VIA, and (4) a metal carbonyl complex. The unsaturated dicarboxylic acid diester is useful as an intermediate material in industrial chemical processes and can be efficiently prepared without the use of a dehydrating agent.
