A billing system is disclosed which performs processing in order to provide service to user terminals, and which performs billing for the service provided to the user terminals. Service control network system

A network system which provides each terminal user with differentiated service, dynamically changing service profiles even in the middle of a communication session. A service control database maintains service profile definitions. When a mobile node registers with a foreign agent to initiate a conmiunication session, a service profile setting controller in the mobile node's home server sets up a service profile for the mobile user. When an event occurs within a service profile updating controller, it indicates that some control condition specified in the service profile is met. The service profile updating controller then makes access to the service control database to obtain a new service profile and the mobile node's foreign server forwards it to the foreign agent, to which the mobile node is attached. The service profile that has been established in relevant network nodes, including the home agent and foreign agent, is dynamically updated with the new one.

Linked with a position registration procedure in a mobile IP, the invention provides a VPN setting service using an IP Sec. tunnel between optional terminals without requiring these terminals to have a specific VPN function. This service is provided by a mobile terminal, authentication servers, a VPN database, and network apparatuses. A home authentication server extracts from the VPN database the VPN information of a user who has requested the authentication at the time of making a position registration request from the mobile terminal. The home authentication server then posts the VPN information to each network apparatus using a predetermined position registration message and an authentication response message. Based on the posted VPN information, the network apparatuses set a VPN path by the IP Sec. to between a home network apparatus and an external network apparatus, between the home network apparatus and a predetermined network apparatus, and/or the external network apparatus and the predetermined network apparatus, respectively.

Mobile network system and service control information changing method

A data management system that allows client terminals on a network to register records with search keywords to distributed data management servers and to retrieve them by entering a specific search keyword. The entire coverage area of the network is divided into a plurality of primary areas, and each primary area is further subdivided into a plurality of secondary areas. Primary and secondary servers are deployed over the network, one for each individual primary area and secondary area, respectively. The primary servers employ a primary hash function that processes a given search keyword to derive a primary server identifier indicating one of the primary servers that governs a particular primary area where the secondary server having a record relevant to the given search keyword is located. Further, the primary servers have a secondary hash function that processes a given search keyword to derive a specific secondary server identifier indicating one of the secondary servers that is located in the same primary area as their own and has a record relevant to the given search keyword. The secondary servers are also equipped with the same secondary hash function as the primary servers'. Those two hash functions are used in both data registration and data retrieval processes.

In an automatic terminal start/stop verification system, a terminal start/stop simulation unit which simulates a task module of a call processing program for an exchange. The exchange has call processors which process and control calls, terminals, line processors controlled by the call processors to control the terminals, and a terminal management data file which has data on the busy/idle states of the terminals, a start/stop write macro name holding unit which holds the names of macros for the writing of start or stopping to the terminal management data file, and a start/stop order name holding unit which holds the names of orders for start or stop of the line processors. The terminal start/stop simulation unit automatically detects errors in the task module by referring to the start/stop write macro name holding unit and the start/stop order name holding unit.
