The degree of freedom in attachment of a temperature sensor is improved. A stator for a rotating electric machine includes: a temperature sensor; and a temperature sensor holder that grips a stator winding portion at a coil end (a portion of a stator winding protruding from both ends of a stator iron core) and the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor holder can be deformed in a direction other than a gripping direction in addition to the gripping direction.

To provide a high-quality, high-output, and low-cost automotive alternator by suppressing heat generation through the reduction of current loss in a heat dissipating plate of a rectifier without expanding a space for placing the heat dissipating plate and reducing the cooling performance of the heat dissipating plate. An automotive alternator includes a rectifier, wherein the rectifier is configured such that a heat dissipating plate of positive pole to which the rectifier element of positive pole is mounted is disposed opposite to a heat dissipating plate of negative pole to which a plurality of rectifier elements of negative pole are mounted; wherein the heat dissipating plate of positive pole is made up of a first heat dissipating plate and a second heat dissipating plate, which are made of two different materials.

A vehicle AC generator includes a stator having stator windings; front frame and rear frame, each rotatably supporting a rotor; a cooling fan fitted to the rotor; first polarity arm and second polarity arm configured to rectify currents of one polarity and another polarity, respectively; a rectifier device configured to rectify an alternating current generated in the stator windings; and a protective cover covering the rectifier device. The rectifier device includes a first heat dissipating plate having rectifier elements forming the first polarity arm, a second heat dissipating plate rectifier elements forming the second polarity arm, and a connection plate formed in waveform-like shape and disposed between the first and second heat dissipating plates, and a passage of a cooling air blown by the cooling fan formed between the first and second heat dissipating plates and between the second heat dissipating plate and the connection plate.

A direction in which cooling air generated by a cooling fan flows to be discharged is perpendicular or nearly perpendicular to a direction in which diffusers are inclined. Thus, airflow resistance is increased by the diffusers, and the cooling air cannot be efficiently discharged from discharge ports provided circumferentially in an outer peripheral portion of a housing. Further, a stator coil cannot be sufficiently cooled. An electrical rotating machine includes: a rotor having a cooling fan on an end face of the rotor; a stator that is arranged opposite the rotor and has a stator coil with a rotation clearance provided between the stator and the rotor; a housing that holds the rotor and the stator; a plurality of intake ports that are provided in a side wall portion of the housing; a plurality of discharge ports that are provided circumferentially in an outer peripheral portion of the housing; and a plurality of diffusers that are provided circumferentially on an inner wall surface of a corner portion of the housing, the diffusers inclining toward the side opposite to a rotational direction of the rotor.
