The disclosure provides methods and materials for treating cancer. Specifically, the disclosure provides a chimeric vesiculovirus comprising: (a) a first genomic fragment of a first vesiculovirus species; and (b) a second genomic fragment of a second vesiculovirus species different from said first vesiculovirus species; wherein the vesiculovirus species comprising vesicular stomatitis viruses (VSVs) and morreton Virus (MorV). Further disclosed are methods of using chimeric vesiculoviruses as oncolytic agents for treating cancer.

Chimeric vesiculoviruses and methods of use

This document relates to methods and materials involved in treating cancer. For example, methods and materials for using one or more oncolytic viruses (e.g., one or more replicating oncolytic viruses) to treat cancer in a mammal (e.g., a human) identified as having a cancer likely to respond to oncolytic virotherapy are provided.

Methods and materials for treating cancer

Various embodiments provide compositions and methods for detecting cancers containing an NRG1 fusion event and treating a patient with a therapeutic agent that is targeted to the NRG1 fusion. Exemplary compositions for treating cancers containing the NRG1 fusion may comprise therapeutic agents inhibiting Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and/or ERBB2 such as cetuximab, panitumumab, Sym004, MM-151, mAb 806, mAb 528, MEHD794A, gefitinib, erlotinib, lapatinib, afatinib, PD153035, AG1478, trastuzumab, and pertuzumab. In some embodiments, the therapeutic agent may be a combination of trastuzumab, and pertuzumab.

Targeted therapies for cancer

This document provides methods and materials involved in assessing cancer (e.g., breast cancer). For example, methods and materials for determining whether or not a cancer patient (e.g., a breast cancer patient) having ER&#x2212;/PgR&#x2212;/HER2&#x2212; cancer cells is likely to have a favorable or unfavorable outcome and/or is likely to respond a cancer treatment that includes a PD-1 inhibitor and/or PD-L1 inhibitor in combination with a JAK2 inhibitor are provided. Methods and materials involved in treating mammals having ER&#x2212;/PgR&#x2212;/HER2&#x2212; cancer (e.g., ER&#x2212;/PgR&#x2212;/HER2&#x2212; breast cancer) by administering a PD-1 inhibitor and/or PD-L1 inhibitor in combination with a JAK2 inhibitor also are provided.

Methods and materials for assessing and treating cancer

Methods of selecting a chemotherapy regimen for treatment of cancer in a patient are disclosed. A patient genetic sample from a bilary cancer such as cholangiocarcinoma is analyzed for a mutation in ERRFI1 and a chemotherapeutic agent is selected as a result of the analysis. If a mutation in ERRFI1 is present, treatment with an inhibitor of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) is shown to have inhibitory effects on tumor growth. In this manner, the chemotherapy regimen is targeted to a given mutation in a patient's cancer.
