Systems for an electric drive axle of a vehicle are provided. In one example, an electric drive axle system includes a gear box including a plurality of gear ratios. The plurality of gear ratios includes a fixed center distance measured from a carrier to an axle on which a plurality of gears or a plurality of pinions is arranged. Each pinion of the plurality of pinions is differently sized, wherein all pinions except for a largest pinion include a pinion baffle. Each gear of the plurality of gears is differently sized, wherein all gears except for a largest gear include a gear baffle.

Methods and systems for a gear box with multiple ratios

Methods and systems for an electric drive axle of a vehicle are provided. An electric drive axle system includes, in one example, a gear train configured to rotationally attach to an electric motor-generator. The gear train includes an output shaft rotationally coupled to a first planetary gear assembly axially offset from an input shaft rotationally coupled to the electric motor-generator, the first planetary gear assembly configured to removably couple to a differential arranged co-axial with an axle.

The disconnect apparatus also includes a cam mechanism and a sensor assembly. The cam mechanism includes an axially movable first cam member and an axially fixed second cam member. Wherein the sensor assembly generates a pulse pattern which is utilized to determine a position of the first cam member, and thereby a state of the disconnect apparatus.

Systems and methods for an electric drive axle are provided. In one example, the electric drive axle may include an electric motor-generator rotationally coupled to a gearbox having a one-way clutch mounted on an output shaft and operable in an engaged configuration and a disengaged configuration, where in the engaged configuration, the one-way clutch transfers rotational energy from the output shaft to an output gear rotationally coupled to a plurality of drive wheels. The gearbox further includes a mode adjustment mechanism including a lock ring rotationally coupled to the output shaft and configured to selectively engage an input gear and the one-way clutch in a plurality of operating modes.

A disconnect apparatus including a first clutch member and a second clutch member in selective engagement with the first clutch member. The disconnect apparatus also includes a cam mechanism and a sensor assembly. The cam mechanism includes an axially movable first cam member and an axially fixed second cam member, wherein the sensor assembly generates a pulse pattern which is utilized to determine a position of the first cam member, and thereby a state of the disconnect apparatus.

System for securing a part in a vehicle differential housing may have a differential housing having an interior wall and an exterior wall. The interior wall defines a cavity within the housing. The system may also have an axially inwardly extending feature integrally formed, unitary and one piece with the differential housing interior wall. The feature may define a first arm extending parallel a portion of the interior wall adjacent where the feature is connected to the interior wall. The feature may define a second arm extending transverse the first arm and a third arm extending transverse the second arm. A non-magnetic material may cover an end portion of the third arm.

An electromagnetic disconnect system has an output housing having an armature with a coil and an output shaft bearing fixed to it. A pressure plate and a sliding dog clutch are slidably attached to an output shaft that is in rotational contact with the output shaft bearing. This system further has an input housing attached to the output housing. The input housing has an input shaft bearing fixed to it. The electromagnetic disconnect system further has a disengagement spring and an axially fixed dog clutch rigidly attached to an end of an input shaft that is axially disposed through an opening in the input housing and in rotational contact with the input shaft bearing.

A pulse vacuum hub lock system for selectively engaging a wheel hub to an axial shaft includes a cartridge housing assembly received in a bore in the wheel hub. The cartridge housing assembly supports a clutch ring for movable engagement between splines in the wheel hub and directly on the axle shaft. A diaphragm is connected to a piston assembly and is responsive to a vacuum pressure to activate the piston assembly to engage or disengage a latch mechanism that holds the clutch ring in an engaged or disengaged position. A piston spring and a helper spring are provided between primary and secondary pistons of the piston assembly and allow for separation in the vacuum levels required to activate the latch mechanism. The vacuum hub lock system is compact so as to be disposed inboard of an opening in the exterior surface of a wheel rim.
