A sound and light machine (SLM) produces sound and light pulses at brain wave frequencies so as to induce a particular state of consciousness in a user, while simultaneously providing music. The SLM includes light emitting diodes (LEDs) and headphone speakers. A microcontroller runs firmware to control the LEDs and headphone speakers so as to produce a plurality of dominant brainwave frequencies. Binaural voices produce a melody of music without interfering with the brainwave frequencies. Each note of the melody is sounded at a specific pitch based on information in a Tone Object, which includes a state variable index holding the note's current position within a waveform array and a state variable step, which is an amount by which to increment the state variable index at each iteration. The index is set to 0 at startup and the step is calculated from the initial note desired.

The SLM includes a left and a right light emitting diode (LED) (). The LEDs () are configured to be placed in front of the user's left and right eyes, respectively, and are programmed to pulse light at a frequency that helps induce the particular state of consciousness in the user. The SLM has a left and a right headphone speaker (). The speakers () are configured to play different tones into right and left ears to produce binaural beats that match the LED pulse frequencies. The SLM also has a microcontroller () on circuit board that runs firmware to control the LEDs and headphone speakers.

A steam generating system for use in a steam bath includes thermostatically controlled steam generating means for maintaining the steam bath environment at a desired temperature, means defining a water inlet path for conducting water from a water supply to the steam generating means, said inlet-defining means including an area of highly thermally-conductive material in thermal contact with the water. The thermostatically controlled steam generating means includes an electrically powered heating element, and a solid state switching device for controlling the amount of electricity flowing in the heating element. The solid state switching device is in thermal contact with said highly thermally-conductive material so that the switching device is cooled via heat transfer to the water flowing in the inlet path.

A steam generator for use with a steam bath has a storage tank for holding a quantity of water from which steam is to be made, means for permitting the ingress of water and the egress of steam from the tank, first heating means for controllably maintaining the water at a temperature that is elevated from the ambient temperature but below its boiling point, and second heating means for selectively heating the water from its elevated temperature to produce steam upon demand.

System and method for generating steam for a steam bath

A method of creating an image for an event or promotion involves providing a plurality of light sources arranged in a one-dimensional matrix. The one-dimensional matrix is made up of a vertical column and at least two horizontal rows. The light sources are blinked for at least two image_times that are within the range from about 30 milliseconds to about 200 milliseconds without use of a line driver. The power source is selected to avoid damaging the light sources or electronic circuity controlling the light sources. Each of the image_times includes two or more display_times that are equal to LED On time. The light sources are moved relative to an observer at the event or promotion, such that the observer will observe a two-dimensional image.

Method for creating an image for an event or promotion

A disk array system comprises a plurality of automated controllers, each of which implements a host side of a standard ATA interface protocol within automated circuitry to control a respective disk drive. Each automated controller preferably includes a command buffer for storing disk drive commands to be executed by a respective ATA drive, and a data buffer that stores I/O data being transferred to or from the ATA disk drive. In a preferred embodiment, the automated controllers are connected by a control bus to a microcontroller that dispatches disk drive commands to the automated controllers in response to I/O requests from a host computer, and are also connected by a second bus to an automated processor. The automated processor transfers I/O data between the automated controllers/ATA disk drives and a host computer, and tracks the completion statuses of pending I/O requests.

A self-contained thermo-mechanically self-opening steam head that is normally generally flush with a supporting steam room wall when not in use so as not to pose a safety hazard. The steam head has a mechanical thermostat that automatically responds to the presence of heat as from steam to move a deflector plate, which normally generally blocks a steam outlet from the head, to an open position. That open position is spaced from but closely in front of the steam outlet. This allows steam to flow out of the outlet, but the deflector plate diverts the outward steam flow to a direction generally along the supporting wall. When the steam is shut off, the thermostat cools and thereby causes the deflector plate to return to its closed, blocking position. There is no electrical wiring or connection which could pose a major safety hazard in the presence of water.

Method for creating a two-dimensional image

A high performance RAID system for a PC comprises a controller card which controls an array of ATA disk drives. The controller card includes an array of automated disk drive controllers, each of which controls one respective disk drive. The disk drive controllers are connected to a microcontroller by a control bus and are connected to an automated coprocessor by a packet-switched bus. The coprocessor accesses system memory and a local buffer. In operation, the disk drive controllers respond to controller commands from the microcontroller by accessing their respective disk drives, and by sending packets to the coprocessor over the packet-switched bus. The packets carry I/O data (in both directions, with the coprocessor filling-in packet payloads on I/O writes), and carry transfer commands and target addresses that are used by the coprocessor to access the buffer and system memory. The packets also carry special completion values (generated by the microcontroller) and I/O request identifiers that are processed by a logic circuit of the coprocessor to detect the completion of processing of each I/O request. The coprocessor grants the packet-switched bus to the disk drive controllers using a round robin arbitration protocol which guarantees a minimum I/O bandwidth to each disk drive. This minimum I/O bandwidth is preferably greater than the sustained transfer rate of each disk drive, so that all drives of the array can operate at the sustained transfer rate without the formation of a bottleneck.

A high-performance RAID system for a PC comprises a controller card which controls an array of ATA disk drives. The controller card includes an array of automated disk drive controllers, each of which controls one respective disk drive. The disk drive controllers are connected to a microcontroller by a control bus and are connected to an automated coprocessor by a packet-switched bus. The coprocessor accesses system memory and a local buffer. An image-creating implement includes a plurality of light sources, such as LED's, arranged in a one-dimensional matrix. The one-dimensional matrix includes a vertical column and a plurality of horizontal rows in which each of the horizontal rows has no more than one of the light sources. The implement also includes electronic circuitry which is adapted to blink each of the light sources in a manner such that when the matrix is moved an observer thereof will observe a two-dimensional image.
