A photonic integrated circuit (PIC) system, preferably including a substrate, one or more photonic connections, and a plurality of circuit blocks. The circuit blocks preferably include one or more waveguides that are optically coupled to the photonic connections, such as by transition features. A method of PIC fabrication, preferably including defining a PIC structure and defining circuit blocks. The circuit blocks are preferably defined onto one or more template regions defined by the PIC structure. Photonic connections are preferably defined as part of the PIC structure. Transition features, such as transitions between the photonic connections and the circuit blocks, are preferably defined concurrently with defining the circuit blocks.

Photonic integrated circuit system and method of fabrication

An optical link system for computation, preferably including a photonics substrate and a plurality of electronics modules, such as processors, memory controllers, and/or switches, which are preferably bonded to the photonics substrate. A photonics substrate, preferably including a plurality of optical links including waveguides and optical transducers. A method for optical link system operation, preferably including operating electronics modules and using optical links, optionally in cooperation with electronics modules such as switches, to transfer information between the electronics modules.

Optical link system and method for computation

A computer system comprises one or more processing units and a plurality of memory locations interconnected by a plurality of data links, each processing unit comprising a data request engine and a processor. A method for accessing data in memory of the computer system, includes: receiving a data access job at a first data request engine specifying data to be accessed; and generating a plurality of memory access requests to request the plurality of data partitions needed to fulfill the data access job. The plurality of memory access requests are then delivered to the plurality of memory locations, and the plurality of data partitions are copied or moved from the plurality of memory locations to the first processing unit via the data links. The data access job specifies a plurality of data partitions of a source data structure distributed over the plurality of memory locations of the computer system. One purpose of this computer system is to accelerate the accessing of the rows or vectors in an embedding table for machine learning.

Computer system and method for data access

A photonic computing system, preferably including an input module, a computation module, and/or control module. The photonic computing system can include one or more optical filter banks, such as in the computation module and/or any other suitable modules. Each optical filter bank preferably includes a plurality of photonic bandgap phase modulators. Each photonic bandgap phase modulator preferably includes a set of photonic crystal segments. The photonic crystal segments can preferably be controlled to transition light propagation between two or more photonic bands.

A photonic filter bank system, preferably including two waveguides and a plurality of optical filters optically coupled to one or more of the waveguides. A system for parallel photonic computation, preferably including a source module, a plurality of input modulator units, an optical interference unit (OIU), and a plurality of detector banks. An OIU, preferably including one or more unitary matrix modules and optionally including a diagonal matrix module. A method for parallel photonic computing, preferably including encoding input vectors, performing a desired matrix operation, and receiving output values, and optionally including performing electronic computations and/or performing further optical computations based on the outputs, which can function to compute the results of a matrix operation on many different input vectors in parallel.

Photonic filter bank system and method of use

A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) system preferably includes one or more optical modulators and can optionally include one or more electronic DAC arrays. A method for digital-to analog conversion preferably includes receiving digital inputs and providing analog optical outputs. The method for digital-to analog conversion is preferably performed using the DAC system.
