A grinding wheel for treating a surface of a power transmission belt/belt sleeve. The grinding wheel has a cylindrical body defining a rotational axis and having a circumferential outer surface with there being a plurality of abrading elements arranged in circumferentially spaced relationship on the outer surface of the body. Reliefs are provided between adjacent abrading elements. The invention further contemplates a method of treating a belt using the inventive grinding wheel.

Endless power transmission belt processing apparatus, a grinding wheel

An apparatus for limiting deviation of an endless belt/belt sleeve from a desired rotational path. The apparatus has first and second rollers each having a rotational axis and cooperatively supporting an endless belt/belt sleeve trained therearound for rotational movement in a predetermined path. A first member is mounted on one of the first and second rollers for movement axially relative to the one of the first and second rollers. A blocking structure defines a shoulder for engagement with an edge of an endless belt/belt sleeve trained around the first and second rollers to limit movement of an endless belt trained around the first and second rollers in a first axial direction relative to the one of the first and second rollers.

Belt deviation control apparatus

The present invention is directed to an apparatus for automatically delivering power transmission belt preforms from a supply to a work station for entrainment on a pair of cooperating pulleys, in which position a cutting, abrading operation, or the like can be performed on the belt. Once the belt is completed, structure automatically removes the belt from the pulleys and delivers the same to a desired destination.

Apparatus for mounting power transmission belts on and removing same

A power transmitting belt manufacture wherein belts are molded to have various cross sections. The belts are machined to a desired cross section. Each belt is entrained about drive and driven pulleys to run the belt under a preselected tension. At least one roller is caused to engage the back surface of the driven belt to reinforce the otherwise unsupported belt at the point of cutting between drive and driven pulleys. A pair of opposed cutting blades are engaged with the opposite sides of the belt to form the opposite side edges of the final belt section. An apparatus is disclosed for fabricating such a power transmitting belt which has a belt feeder for placing the belt over a drive pulley and a driven pulley, a pair of belt machining units each having at least one rotatable cutting blade for cutting the side walls of the belt, X-axis movable bases for controlling the movement of belt machining units towards and away from each other and thereby control belt width, a roller unit, and a Y-axis movable base for carrying the roller unit for pressing a roller of the roller unit against the back surface of the belt.

Method of fabricating a power transmission belt and apparatus therefor

An apparatus and method of sorting power transmission belts into groups of substantially equal length. The apparatus is entirely automatic and includes mechanism for transferring seriatim the respective belts from a supply to a measuring drive mechanism. The belt being measured is driven under tension and the length and rideout concurrently determined and fed to a computer. In the event the belt is found to be outsized but capable of being brought into the desired range by grinding the sides thereof, grinding mechanism of the apparatus is actuated to adjust the configuration suitably. The apparatus includes mechanism for discarding outsized belts which cannot be so adjusted. The apparatus includes mechanism for transferring the belts from the measuring drive system to a conveyor and associated mechanism for sorting the measured belts as a function of a signal provided by the computer.
