A fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank, a bracket carried by the fuel tank and having a portion accessible from the outside of the fuel tank to permit the assembly to be mounted to a vehicle, and an outer layer disposed around at least part of the fuel tank and a portion of the bracket to connect the bracket to the fuel tank. In one implementation, the fuel tank includes layers of composite material that have fibers embedded in resin or the like. The bracket is carried or trapped between adjacent layers of the composite material so that the bracket is fixed to the tank. The bracket preferably is connected to the tank at one end and is flexible in at least one direction to accommodate changes in the shape or dimensions of the fuel tank.

Fuel tank mount

A master/slave tank system for storing a compressed hydrogen gas, where the system employs an electrically driven shut-off valve for each tank in the system. The tank system includes a master tank and a slave tank for storing the gas. A first line is coupled to the master tank for providing the gas stored therein to a fuel cell stack. A master tank shut-off valve is positioned in the first line between the master tank and a pressure regulator. A second line is coupled to the slave tank for providing the gas stored therein to the master tank as the pressure difference between the slave tank and the master tank changes. An electrically driven slave tank shut-off valve is positioned within the second line, where the slave tank shut-off valve automatically closes the second line in response to an increase in the differential pressure across the slave tank valve.

Method of discharging high pressure storage vessels

A delivery system for the delivery of a gaseous fuel such as for example hydrogen, to a consumer, in particular to a fuel cell stack, wherein the fuel comes from a source with a higher pressure level, the delivery system comprising at least one mechanical pressure regulating valve which has a valve member biased by means of a spring and which is designed to regulate the fuel from the higher pressure level down to a lower pressure level which serves as the feed pressure for a control valve, wherein the control valve is connectable via a feed line to a consumer and determines the mass flow of the fuel coming from the source which is supplied to the consumer and wherein changes of the pressure prevailing at the consumer side of the control valve arise with power changes of the consumer, is characterized in that the said pressure prevailing at the consumer side of the control valve, or a value proportional to the latter or corresponding to it, can be supplied via a control line to the mechanical pressure regulating valve to supplement the spring bias acting on the valve member of the mechanical pressure regulating valve. In addition, a fuel cell system and a method for delivering a gaseous fuel are claimed.
