A multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a user interface to select a network configuration machine readable code, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to generate the network configuration machine readable code and print the network configuration machine readable code, wherein the network configuration machine readable code is to be scanned by a target MFD to automatically configure a network connection of the target MFD via information contained in the network configuration machine readable code.

Method and apparatus to configure a multi-function device

A multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a communication interface to establish a communication path with a remote server, a user interface to receive a request to create an electronic file based on a scan of a document, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to scan the document to create the electronic file of the document, generate an encryption code associated with the electronic file of the document that is scanned, and transmit the electronic file to the remote server.

For example, the MFD includes a local communication interface, a proximity sensor to detect a user within a detection range, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. A method of providing native scalable management of a fleet of managed devices, which includes establishing a Trust Community, which includes a sub-set of the managed devices, organizing the Trust Community, configuring one of the managed devices in the organized Trust Community as a Root Device to publish files via a file sharing function, adding the Root Device to a distribution profile stored in a database, creating or downloading files via the Root Device, and sharing the files with other devices in the organized Trust Community via the Root Device. Any devices on hold or offline are placed in a temporary working area for reorganizing. Download and install schedules are set up on a per device or a bulk basis according to policies. Files are placed into a staging area before re-distribution and checked for security, integrity, and/or completeness via checksums, digitally signed certificates, and/or internal structure checks.
