A composite superconducting wire using ceramic superconductor material in which one or more elongated superconductor material are accommodated in one or more grooves formed on an elongated reinforcing member so that a long size superconductor wire can be provided. Various methods of producing such composite superconductor wire are also disclosed.

Composite superconductor and method of the production thereof

A ceramic oxide superconductive composite material comprising a ceramic oxide superconductor and a non-superconductive material comprising at least one element which does not react with any of the elements of the ceramic oxide superconductor has improved superconductive properties such as a higher critical temperature and a larger critical current density.

An interconnecting wire of aluminum alloy for semiconductor devices which as improved ball-forming performance in the ball-bonding process, without any loss of conductivity and corrosion resistance. There is also provided an interconnecting wire for semiconductor devices which is lowered in resistance, with a minimum loss of conductivity and without any adverse effect on the bonding performance. The interconnecting wire contains about 0.1 to 45 wt % of an element having a melting point lower than about 450.degree. A process is disclosed for producing an infrared light transmitting optical fiber by drawing a rod of single crystal or polycrystalline metal halide into a fiber through a die; also disclosed is a process for producing an infrared light transmitting optical fiber of step-index type by forming around a single crystal or polycrystalline fiber core, an intimate cladding crystal layer having a lower refractive index than the core by working in the temperature range that does not cause recrystallization of the core or cladding during working.

A heat-resistant aluminum alloy for electrical use, having high heat resistance and conductivity, obtained by subjecting an Al-Zr alloy comprising 0.23-0.35% Zr, the balance consisting of ordinary impurities and aluminum, to melting, casting, hot rolling in the state of high temperature or continuous heating, cold working to a predetermined size, ageing at a temperature within the range of 310.degree. C.-390.degree. C. for 50-400 hours so that Al.sub.3 Zr is dispersed uniformly and in fine particles, and, optionally, further cold working to a degree not exceeding 30% of reduction of area. The resultant aluminum alloy has conductivity in excess of 58% IACS, same strength as 1350 aluminum wire, and 10% softening temperature higher than 400.degree. C. at one hour annealing.

Improved insulation piercing wire connectors are proposed which are provided with a plurality of prongs on the edges of a wire barrel, said prongs having their top tapering up toward the front for better mechanical and electrical connection.

A heat-resistant high strength aluminum alloy electric conductor wire which is an aluminum alloy consisting essentially of 0.01-0.5% copper, 0.01-0.5% zirconium, 0.05-1.0% iron and the balance of aluminum and impurities with a magnesium content limited not to exceed 0.1%, or an aluminum alloy electric conductor wire consisting of said alloy and one or more elements selected from a group consisting of 0.0005-0.05% yttrium, 0.005-0.5% beryllium, 0.0005-0.3% molybdenum, and 0.01-2.0% calcium.

A method of manufacturing an aluminum alloy for electric conductors wherein an aluminum alloy wire which possesses good elongation characteristics, high electric conductivity and high strength, after it has been worked to its final size, is obtained by casting an aluminum-iron alloy, which consists of 1.0 .about. 2.0% iron and a remainder substantially of aluminum, into an ingot and heating it at 500.degree. - 630.degree. C. for 0.5 - 48 hours before or after said ingot is hot-worked into a wire rod.

An aluminum alloy for electric conductors having a conductivity of not less than 60% IACS, which is further highly strong and ductile yet eligible for conventional highspeed tandem manufacturing using a continuous annealing treatment. The aluminum alloy comprises approximately 0.05-0.25 wt-% magnesium, 0.05-0.25 wt-% silicon, 0.0005-0.3 wt-% beryllium, and a balance of aluminum with a requisite relationship between the magnesium and silicon content of Mg + Si .apprxeq. 0.30 wt-%.

Method of manufacturing aluminum alloy electric conductors

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing aluminum wires for communication cables, insulated electric wires, etc., from aluminum for electrical purposes or as an aluminum alloy for electric conductors containing various additive elements, which is characterized in that cold working of 80% or more is given to the product after hot working, then low temperature intermediate annealing is carried out at a temperature of 100.degree. - 280.degree.C, then cold drawing of 50% or more is given and a continuous annealing is carried out. A manufacturing method is thus provided for aluminum wires for communication cables, insulated electric wires, etc., having excellent overall properties of strength, electrical conductivity, ductility, etc., which is suitable for the modernized high-speed manufacturing line and which is superior with respect to productivity and workability.
