The heat sensitive recording material of the present invention has, between a support and a heat sensitive recording layer, an intermediate layer having a tensile modulus of elasticity of from 1.times.10.sup.8 to 1.times.10.sup.10 dyne/cm.sup.2) as measured according to JIS K 7127. The heat sensitive recording material of the present invention is suitable to prevention of abrasion of a thermal head and prevention of sticking of the heat sensitive recording material to the thermal head.

Heat sensitive recording material

A photosensitive transfer material is disclosed including a temporary substrate having provided thereon an alkali-soluble thermoplastic resin layer, an intermediate layer, and a photosensitive resin layer in this order, the transfer material having an interlaminar adhesion which is lowest between the thermoplastic resin layer and the temporary substrate, wherein the alkali-soluble thermoplastic resin layer contains (A) an alkali-soluble thermoplastic resin having a weight average molecular weight of from 50,000 to 500,000 and a glass transition temperature of from 0.degree. to 140.degree. C. and (B) an alkali-soluble thermoplastic resin layer having a weight average molecular weight of from 3,000 to 30,000 and a glass transition temperature of from 30.degree. to 170.degree. C. at an (A)/(B) weight ratio of from 5/95 to 95/5. The transfer material can be transferred to a permanent substrate at a high speed without entrapping air bubbles due to unevenness on the permanent substrate. The temporary substrate can easily be stripped off after transfer. Exposure in air is possible. The thermoplastic resin layer is rapidly removed with an alkali aqueous solution.

Methods for copying optical information are disclosed. The methods comprise the steps of disposing a master mask with a tracking signal or other information recorded therein over an optical memory material comprised of heat mode recording material which can be thermally altered in order to deform or remove the material upon the application of an energy beam, permitting recording on the altered recording material and irradiating the master disk with flash light for a period of 1 microsecond or less, or in the alternative, scanning with a laser beam focused to a spot having a diameter of at least 10 .mu.m on the master mask with the exposure time at each area of the optical memory material being preferably 1 microsecond or less.

The method permits highly sensitive recording by a light beam of a lower energy and can afford a record of information suitable for reflex reading.

Method for recording light information

An optical information recording material which comprises a substrate having thereon a heat mode recording layer made of a metal and a metal compound that increases the sensitivity of said recording layer and decreases the reflectivity of said recording layer, a reflecting layer made of a metal, and a heat insulating layer interposed between said recording layer and said reflecting layer. The material makes it possible to record information at high sensitivity and read recorded information by reflected light at high contrast.

A light information recording medium is disclosed. The medium is comprised of a support which has transparency with respect to light. The support has coated thereon a light sensitive recording layer which contains SiO.sub.2 and In at the SiO.sub.2 content of 10 to 35 vol. % based on the total volume of SiO.sub.2 and In. The recording medium can be used for the recording and reading of the information recorded thereon by striking the medium with laser light from the support side. Composite boring and honing machine and method of making the same

A honing head comprises a holder having a plurality of radial guide slots angularly spaced from each other and an axial hole, a rough-finishing cone shaft and a finishing cone shaft or a single cone shaft axially slidably received in the hole, and a plurality of rough-finishing and finishing honing stone supports alternately disposed in the guide slots for radial movement therein. The honing stone supports have axially spaced legs having inclined cam surfaces held in abutment with tapered portions of the cone shafts. The honing stone supports are connected to the cone shafts by connectors having one ends fixed to the honing stone supports and second ends slidably received in grooves defined in the cone shafts or the supports and having portions inclined with respect to the axes of the cone shafts in the same direction and at the same angle as the inclination of the tapered portions. Thus, axial movement of the cone shafts causes the honing stone supports to be forcibly displaced radially into or out of the guide slots. The holder includes reinforcement members mounted in the guide slots which members serve to give the holder a required degree of mechanical strength and rigidity for stabilizing the honing stone supports during honing operation and preventing a boring tool attached to the holder from being vibrated during boring operation.

A recording material having high sensitivity and providing good image quality comprising a support having thereon a recording layer thermally deformable by exposure to high intensity radiation, which recording layer comprises (1) a vacuum deposited layer of at least one organic compound selected from the group consisting of organic carboxylic acids, organic carboxylic acid salts, organic carboxylic acid esters, aromatic sulfonic acids, organic acyclic sulfur compounds, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds, organic macromolecular compounds, dyes and pigments, or (2) a vacuum co-deposited layer of a mixture of (a) at least one of the organic compounds described above and (b) at least one inorganic material selected from the group consisting of a metal or a metal compound.

Thermal recording materials comprising a thermal recording layer provided on a base, which do not deteriorate with the passage of time due to moisture or oxygen in the air, are disclosed, wherein a stabilizing film composed of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of In, Al, Ag, Au, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt is provided on at least one face of the recording layer and the film has a thickness of 20 to 100 .ANG..

An optical information recording medium is disclosed. The medium is comprised of a plastic substrate made of acrylic resin, an undercoating comprised at least one of polyvinyl pyrrolidone and polyvinyl formal on the substrate, and a heat mode recording layer comprised of metal on the undercoating. The recording medium has improved adhesion between the recording layer and the substrate without decreasing the sensitivity of the recording layer.
