A virtual image display device includes: an image projection unit that selectively projects a first projection light linearly polarized in a first direction and a second projection light linearly polarized in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction to a windshield; a reflected light measurement unit that measures an intensity of light incident from the windshield into the image projection unit along a light path in which the first projection light and the second projection light are projected; and a determination unit that determine whether a user is wearing polarized sunglasses that shield a component linearly polarized in the first direction, based on a first light intensity measured by the reflected light measurement unit when the first projection light is projected and a second light intensity measured by the reflected light measurement unit when the second projection light is projected.

Virtual image display device

A display apparatus projects an image of an object located in an area outside a mobile body onto a target projection surface, the target projection surface being set in a cabin of the mobile body and having a first region and a second region. The display apparatus includes: an image data acquisition unit that acquires image data; an image processing unit that generates projection image data by performing image conversion processing including color conversion in which the first wavelength light is selected for a pixel corresponding to the first region and the second wavelength light is selected for a pixel corresponding to the second region based on region distribution information; a light source unit that emits light selected from either the first wavelength light or the second wavelength light; and a projection unit that projects the image formed by the emitted light onto the target projection surface.

Display apparatus, display method, and program

A virtual image display device includes an intermediate image formation unit on which a real image based on an image display light is formed. The intermediate image formation unit includes a principal surface on which a first area, a second area, and a third area are arranged in a stated order in a predetermined direction, and a reflective part. The first area is provided with a transmission-type screen on which a first display light forms an image, and the third area is provided with a reflection-type screen on which a second display light forms an image. The first display light is transmitted through the transmission-type screen, reflected by the reflective part, transmitted through the second area, and output toward a projection mirror. The second display light is reflected by the reflection-type screen and output toward the projection mirror.

Virtual image display device, intermediate image formation unit, and image display light generation unit

A virtual image display device includes: a display unit that generates an image display light; and a projection optical system including a main concave mirror that reflects the image display light toward the virtual image presentation plate and an auxiliary concave mirror that reflects the image display light toward the main concave mirror. Defining a reference plane along both a direction of incidence and a direction of output of the image display light on the virtual image presentation plate, the main concave mirror is provided in an orientation that causes the image display light to be incident on the main concave mirror in a direction along the reference plane, and the auxiliary concave mirror is provided in an orientation that causes the image display light to be incident on the auxiliary concave mirror in a direction intersecting the reference plane.

An image drawing device includes a laser light source controller controlling a laser light output timing of a laser light source unit and an output value of laser light so that a drawing image based on input image data is generated in a scanning region; a scanner controller controlling scanning so that the laser light is scanned with an amplitude; and a characteristic detection controller controlling the scanner controller to scan in a range in which an amplitude of scanning exceeds a scanning range corresponding to an amplitude when the laser light output value is adjusted, control the laser light source controller to output characteristic detection laser light during scanning outside of a range in which the drawing image is generated and beyond the amplitude of the scanning range, and adjust the output value of the laser light based on a detected output value of the characteristic detection laser light.

Optical pickup device

An optical device diffracts incident light with a hologram element and receives the diffracted light with light receiving facesA toon a light receiving element. Reflected sub-beams used for a tracking operation are received with different ones of the light receiving faces depending on the wavelengths of the reflected sub-beams. When first light receiving faces, andare receiving an incident beam of a first wavelength, output signals from the first light receiving faces and output signals from the other light receiving faces, andare processed to detect an unnecessary light component. The optical device can record and/or reproduce information signals to and/or from optical discs such as DVDs and CDs which need light sources of different wavelengths, without the influence of unnecessary reflected light from the optical discs or without complicating operation of output signals.

In a photo pickup device, a hologram elementis divided into eight areas. In operation, the hologram elements adds different lens powers to four diffraction lights forming two pairs of diffraction-light groups. In the photo pickup device, a light receiving elementis divided into four areas to receive these diffraction lights. The photo pickup device outputs signals corresponding to four quadrants A, B, C and D forming a reflection light from an optical disc, allowing a focus-error signal to be calculated in the same logic as an 'astigmatism method'.

An optical pickup having a simple structure and that is capable of recording using a plurality of wavelengths is provided, comprising a primary laser light source for emitting a primary laser light having a first wavelength and that is of sufficient power for recording, an integrated device further comprising a secondary laser light source for emitting a secondary laser light having a second wavelength that is longer than the first wavelength and that is of sufficient power for recording as well as light receiving elements for receiving the light of the primary and secondary laser lights, and a polarized light beam splitter having polarization selectivity in respect of the secondary laser light.

Optical pickup

There is disclosed an optical device in which a first light source for outputting a first wavelength light is apart from a second light source for outputting a second wavelength light by a predetermined distance. An information recording medium is irradiated with the first and second wavelength lights transmitted through a holographic optical element having first and second diffraction areas. The first and second diffraction areas are provided with grating arrangements in which grating axis directions are parallel to each other and grating pitches are different from each other. The first and second wavelength lights reflected by the information recording medium are transmitted through the holographic optical element and diffracted by the first and second diffraction areas. The first and second wavelength diffracted lights by the first diffraction area are converged to much the same first position on a light receiving element substrate, and the first and second wavelength diffracted lights by the second diffraction area are converged to substantially the same second position on the light receiving element substrate. First and second light receiving elements are disposed in the first and second positions, respectively.
