An IC card includes a semiconductor integrated circuit device package having one surface and another surface opposite to the one surface, card terminals on the one surface of the package, and a base card which includes a concave portion attached to the other surface of the package. The package includes a wiring board, a semiconductor integrated circuit chip on the wiring board, and an insulating resin coated over the semiconductor integrated circuit chip. The package is a rectangular parallelepiped package. The insulating resin is exposed to the other surface of the package. The insulating resin and the wiring board are exposed to four surfaces of the package except for the one surface and the other surface.

There are provided for an improved card connector contacting structure featuring its compactness and simplicity in construction, higher reliability of contacting action and higher impact resistance. The contacting structure is designed as a card connector comprising a plurality of contact terminals which are arranged in parallel with one another; among the plurality of contact terminals, at least two are the terminals for connecting with the power source; at least two are the terminals for grounding; at least one is for detecting whether the IC card has been loaded securely into the card connector; among the plurality of contact terminals, one of the terminals for grounding comes into contact first with the corresponding external contact of the IC card, among the plurality of contact terminals, the terminal for detecting the card coming into contact last with the corresponding external contact of the IC card.

A paste for formation of ceramic capacitor electrode, composed of 10 to 14% by weight of an organic vehicle and 86 to 90% by weight of a platinum powder, wherein the platinum powder contains, in 100% by weight of the powder, 54 to 60% by weight of a spherical particle powder, 36 to 40% by weight of a flaky particle powder and 0 to 10% by weight of an indefinite particle powder. The electrode layer film of ceramic capacitor formed with the paste has a density, a surface roughness and an adhesion strength all of given values, can have improved adhesivity to the dielectric layer of the ceramic capacitor, and can make small the through holes generated in the electrode layer.

The first card accommodating portion for accommodating the first card and the second card accommodating portion for accommodating the second card are formed in the connector housing in such a way that a part of the first and second card accommodating portions can be used commonly by the first and second cards. This construction allows two or more kinds of cards with different external shapes and different contact pad positions to be inserted into the connector from one and the same card insertion slot, thus reducing the space occupied by the card connector.

A memory card is to be inserted into an electronic device so as to add a memory function. The memory card comprises a parent card and a child card, the child card including a semiconductor memory element and a lead as an external terminal of the memory element. The parent card includes a child card receiving portion and a child card insert port for inserting the child card into the child card receiving portion through the child card insert port, and a contact to be contacted with the lead of the child card within the child card receiving portion. A contact opening/closing slide plate is provided for causing a contacting portion of the contact to be shifted to a position in which it can contact with the lead while moving in the child card insert direction pushed by the child card. The parent card also includes a connector element for contacting with the electronic device.

Memory card

A memory card is to be inserted into an electronic device so as to add a memory function. The memory card comprises a parent card and a child card, the child card including a semiconductor memory element and a lead as an external terminal of the memory element. The parent card includes a child card receiving portion and a child card insert port for inserting the child card into the child card receiving portion through the child card insert port, and a contact to be contacted with the lead of the child card within the child card receiving portion. A contact opening/closing slide is provided for causing a contacting portion of the contact to be shifted to a position in which it can contact with the lead while moving in the child card insert direction pushed by the child card. The parent card also includes a connector element for contacting with the electronic device.

A memory card comprises a flash memory for storing data, in which defective block data indicating defective one of memory blocks constituting the flash memory is stored in advance, and an attribute memory for storing attribute data of the memory card, wherein the defective block data is stored in a blank area of the attribute memory so as to assure that the defective block data is regenerated in the flash memory in a case where the defective block data on the flash memory is erased.
